The Role
As a Registered Nurse I, you will provide direct patient care, education, and clinical support in a collaborative reproductive healthcare setting. You'll play an essential role in helping patients navigate important healthcare decisions while ensuring they receive safe, inclusive, and high-quality care throughout their experience.
Working alongside providers and clinical staff, you'll contribute to a supportive environment that prioritizes patient dignity, compassion, and clinical excellence.
What You'll Do
Provide Exceptional Patient Care
Assess, educate, and support patients before, during, and after procedures.
Review medical histories and identify contraindications or special patient needs.
Ensure informed consent is obtained and patients understand their treatment options.
Provide patient education, pregnancy options counseling, and referrals as appropriate.
Support contraceptive counseling and individualized patient care planning.
Deliver Surgical & Recovery Care
Prepare and maintain recovery room supplies, medications, and emergency equipment.
Admit, monitor, recover, and discharge patients.
Assist providers during procedures and conscious sedation cases.
Monitor patient status and respond appropriately to complications or emergencies.
Support Follow-Up Care
Respond to nurse calls and patient questions.
Provide post-procedure education and follow-up instructions.
Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Collaborate for Quality Care
Partner with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and health center staff to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
Support efficient clinic operations and patient flow.
Adhere to PPSWO clinical standards, policies, and procedures.
Participate in the on-call rotation schedule.
QualificationsYou're the Right Fit If You...
Hold a current Ohio RN license or can obtain Ohio licensure before employment.
Are passionate about delivering inclusive, patient-centered healthcare.
Have strong communication, patient education, and critical thinking skills.
Can effectively prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
Demonstrate sound clinical judgment and professionalism.
Thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Are committed to supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Are comfortable using electronic medical records and clinical technology.
Have reliable transportation and can travel between health center locations as needed.
Bonus Points If You...
Have experience in OB/GYN, reproductive healthcare, recovery room, ambulatory surgery, or emergency nursing.
Hold an ACLS certification.
Can communicate effectively in Spanish and English.
Have experience working in a nonprofit or community healthcare setting.
Have knowledge of contraceptive technology and reproductive healthcare services.
What to Expect: Work Environment
This role offers a combination of direct patient care, patient education, and clinical support in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
You'll
Work closely with patients throughout their healthcare journey.
Support procedure and recovery room services.
Participate in an on-call rotation.
Travel between health center locations as needed.
Frequently stand, walk, bend, and move clinical supplies and equipment.
Work in a clinical setting with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, and medical equipment.
