Backend Developer-Billing Platform

We are looking for a Backend Developer to join our Billing Platform team and play a key role in evolving and modernizing our complex billing systems.

Our team owns Pango’s billing infrastructure end-to-end - from invoice generation and payment processing to settlements with internal and external partners. Our systems process transactions worth approximately NIS 2 billion annually and scale from tens of thousands to millions of transactions during peak financial periods.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of projects, including design, development, testing, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Design and develop new features and capabilities that support Pango’s growing products, business domains, and evolving billing needs.
• Design and implement complex integration systems in the billing domain.
• Build and maintain scalable systems that process high volumes of financial transactions.
• Improve team velocity through automation, adoption of new technologies, implementation of smart AI-powered solutions, and better development practices.
• Contribute to the development of AI Agents, skills, and workflows within the Billing Platform team.
• Collaborate with multiple internal teams and external partners.
• Handle ongoing production issues as part of the team’s daily work.
• Contribute to the team’s technical knowledge by suggesting creative solutions and promoting fresh thinking.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in complex backend development using C# or Python, within distributed systems environments.
• Ability to quickly grasp complex systems and business domains, ask the right questions, and turn ambiguous problems into simple, practical solutions.
• Proven ability to design and build scalable systems using OOP principles.
• Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases
• Proven experience building distributed systems and microservices - Must
• Hands-on experience and great knowledge with event-driven architectures is a must, using message queues or messaging technologies such as Kafka\ RabbitMQ,\ Amazon SQS/SNS, or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience building data-intensive backend systems and robust APIs, with proven AWS or other public cloud environment expertise.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and adherence to code-quality standards.
• Curiosity and practical experience with AI and modern development tools, to improve and optimize development processes.
• Strong ability to work across cross-functional teams and align technical efforts with business and operational needs.
•  Full professional proficiency in Hebrew and English, both spoken and written.

Advantages

• Background working on billing, payments, or financial systems.
• Experience with serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda and Step Functions is a significant advantage.
