Job Overview
The Banquet Bartender is responsible for providing exceptional beverage service during banquet events while maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar. This role prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with established standards, ensuring a high-quality guest experience. The Banquet Bartender supports overall event execution by working closely with banquet staff and assisting in other food and beverage areas as needed.
This position operates in a fast-paced banquet and event environment requiring constant movement, multitasking, and guest interaction. Work is performed primarily indoors with exposure to noise, chemicals, bar equipment, and potentially slippery surfaces. Success in this role requires strong mixology knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent guest service.
Job Responsibilities
Beverage Preparation & Service
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with standard recipes and guest preferences
- Provide efficient and friendly bar service during banquet events
- Deliver beverages directly to guests when required, including table-side service
- Maintain knowledge of liquor, beer, wine, and cocktail preparation
Bar Setup, Inventory & Maintenance
- Set up and break down banquet bar areas according to event specifications
- Maintain proper stock levels and par inventory throughout events
- Assist with daily bar inventory and placing supply orders as needed
- Perform accurate scheduled inventory counts
- Ensure all bar equipment and supplies are clean, organized, and properly stored
Guest Service & Experience
- Provide courteous, attentive, and professional service to all guests
- Engage guests with a positive attitude and respond promptly to requests
- Apply suggestive selling techniques to enhance guest experience and increase revenue
- Assist with guest needs beyond the bar, including general event support
Cash Handling & Compliance
- Handle cash and process transactions accurately in accordance with company policies
- Follow all accounting procedures related to cash banks and reconciliation
- Adhere to all alcohol service laws and responsible serving practices
Cleanliness & Safety
- Maintain cleanliness of bar areas, including counters, floors, and storage spaces
- Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety standards
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and uniform at all times
Team Support & Coordination
- Communicate effectively with banquet staff, servers, and kitchen team
- Assist in other food and beverage outlets or roles as needed
- Support overall banquet operations to ensure smooth and successful events
Job Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of bartending experience required; banquet or event bartending experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of liquor, beer, wine, and mixology techniques
- Strong understanding of standard drink recipes and beverage presentation
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple guest requests simultaneously
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization at all times
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Strong reliability and work ethic
Certifications: None required (food safety and alcohol service certifications preferred).
Travel required: No travel required; position is fully property-based.
Physical requirements:
- Constant standing for the duration of shifts
- Frequent walking, bending, reaching, balancing, and manual dexterity
- Occasional sitting and pushing/pulling
- Constant lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs.; frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to work continuously in a fast-paced event environment
- Ability to safely navigate bar and banquet areas, including potentially slippery surfaces
