We’re looking for a Principal Data Product Manager to lead the vision, strategy, and evolution of OrthoFi’s common data platform while driving our transformation into a truly data-driven organization.
In this role, you will treat data as a product—owning the foundational data platform that acts as the single source of truth across our SaaS ecosystem. You will define how data is ingested, structured, governed, and served across OrthoFi, ensuring that engineering, internal product teams, analytics, and business stakeholders can rely on a modern, scalable, and high-quality data foundation.
Beyond core infrastructure, you will directly drive business outcomes by unleashing data to power deeper customer insights, operational automation, and next-generation, AI-driven capabilities. This senior-level role blends core product management, platform architecture strategy, and cross-functional leadership. You will bring both strategic vision and hands-on expertise to establish a robust data ecosystem today, while setting the stage to ultimately own and commercialize Data as a Service (DaaS) as a key competitive differentiator in the future.
What You’ll Do:
Build & Scale the Common Data Platform
- Platform Ownership: Define and execute the multi-year roadmap for OrthoFi’s common data platform, treating software engineers, data analysts, and product teams as your core customers.
- Architecture & Pipelines: Partner closely with Data Engineering to drive requirements for scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, central data storage (Snowflake/Redshift), and unified data models that integrate disparate SaaS data sources.
- Developer & API Enablement: Design self-service data access patterns, clean schemas, and APIs so product and engineering teams can easily ingest and consume data without friction.
Enable Data Across Products
- Partner with SaaS Product Managers to define metrics, event tracking, and data requirements during the discovery, design, and delivery stages of all product features.
- Collaborate with engineering and analytics to standardize event tracking, logging, schema design, and integration touchpoints.
- Build frameworks and best practices that improve how product teams plan, instrument, track, and learn from data
Strengthen Data Governance & Quality
- Establish consistent definitions, taxonomies, and central data modeling for core product and business metrics.
- Partner with engineering and analytics to ensure data lineage, quality, security, and completeness across the central data platform.
- Introduce enterprise standards for data documentation, ownership, cataloging, and schema change management.
- Promote a culture of data stewardship across both technical and non-technical teams.
Drive Data-Driven Decision Making & AI Readiness
- Create visibility into product and business performance through reliable central dashboards and reporting layers.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, CS, Operations, and Finance to ensure business-critical decisions rely on trusted, unified platform data.
- Lead the long-term data strategy for AI/ML readiness—building the clean infrastructure and pipeline foundations needed to power future intelligent product features and predictive analytics.
What You’ll Bring:
- 7+ years of experience in product management focused on building common data platforms, central data infrastructure, or data pipeline products.
- At least 3 years in a product leadership role
- Proven track record of defining product strategy for central data platforms serving internal engineers, data scientists, and business consumers as "customers."
- 5+ years working in data, analytics, or data-intensive environments
- Demonstrated success collaborating with engineering, product, and business teams to define and deliver data-related initiatives.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, event tracking, and analytics instrumentation.
- Working knowledge of SQL and familiarity with modern data tools (dbt, Snowflake, Redshift, Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — able to translate between technical and business perspectives.
- Proven ability to balance near-term operational improvements with long-term strategic vision.
- Experience working in Agile product development environments — comfortable defining stories, managing backlogs, and collaborating with teams through sprint cycles.
Nice to Have:
- Experience designing metric frameworks or governance programs at scale.
- Background in analytics, data science, or ETL, data platform product management.
- Familiarity with AI/ML data requirements and experimentation frameworks.
- Experience in healthcare, fintech, or other regulated industries (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2).
What’s in it for you:
- Full medical, dental, and vision benefits
- Flexible PTO
- Employer HSA contribution
- 9 Company Paid holidays
- 401(k) match, 3% after 90 days of employment
- Supportive culture with one-of-a-kind growth opportunities
- Hybrid in-office and work at home (2 days in-office Tuesdays and Thursdays)
- Paid Parental Leave as well as a two-week "ease-back" program that enables parents to return part-time at full pay
- Company and team outings
- Peer-to-peer recognition program
- Vendor discounts
Compensation: $150,000 - 180,000 annually
