Position Summary:
The Unit Clerk coordinates activities at the unit nurses’ station, providing clerical support and record management. This role maintains organized and complete resident records, supports nursing staff, and interacts with residents, families, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform receptionist, telephone, and clerical duties at nurses’ station.
- Maintain accurate and accessible resident medical records.
- Transcribe physician orders and prepare requisitions for ancillary services.
- Assist with resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Maintain inventory of unit supplies and ensure readiness for inspections.
- Support nursing staff with documentation and communication needs.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of medical recordkeeping and clerical processes.
- Organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
- Clerical or healthcare administrative experience.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Prolonged sitting with some walking and standing.
- Ability to lift 5–40 lbs and push carts up to 300 lbs with assistance.
