Project Manager - Defence Virtual Simulation (FAR)

We are a well-established team based in Farnborough (UK) at OneArc, developing world-leading military simulations for major NATO powers and their allies. About the role

You will be the boots-on-the-ground face of our flagship Defence Virtual Simulation (DVS) programme for the UK Ministry of Defence (UK MOD) — travelling regularly to units across the country to support, train, and build relationships with the people actually using our software.

This is a frontline, relationship-first role first, and a project management role second. You'll work with personnel at every level — from a corporal needing basic IT assistance through to a brigadier overseeing a complex training exercise — and represent OneArc confidently in front of a room, whether that's a customer course, a conference, or a symposium.

Over your first year, and with our support, you'll grow into providing PM support and managing smaller UK-based projects — including time and backing to work towards a PMQ or PRINCE2 qualification if you don't already hold one.

There's no expectation you arrive with deep project management experience; what matters is that you're excited to get out on the road, learn how different parts of the armed forces work, and help them get the most out of our software.

You will serve as a key point of contact between UK MOD units, internal teams, and industry partners, helping drive adoption of our software, supporting customer satisfaction, organising community events, and supporting sales opportunities.

Do you think you have what it takes?

• Ideally, you've served in the military, or you have industry experience within a defence-focused organisation (for example, another defence company involved in service delivery) — either way, you understand how different parts of the armed forces operate and how they might use simulation and training software. Exposure across multiple service branches is a strong plus.
• You're comfortable working with people at every level of the military — from a corporal needing basic IT assistance through to a brigadier overseeing a complex training exercise.
• You have strong public speaking skills and are confident standing up in front of a customer course, conference, or symposium to talk about simulation and training.
• You're early in your career rather than in a senior role — for example, not long out of the Army, or around five years into industry — and you're excited to travel to units across the country to support them and learn their use cases.
• You proactively take on complex challenges and work to get them fixed, aiming for long-term operational success.
• You take ownership of your work, adapt to changing requirements, and are self-motivated and highly organised.
• You hold, or are eligible to obtain, UK security clearance.
• Formal project management experience isn't required from day one — but you should have worked in or alongside projects in some capacity. Over your first year, you'll build towards providing PM support and managing smaller UK-based projects, with support to complete a PMQ (APM) or PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification along the way if needed.
• You should be located in Southern England - Hybrid working with the requirement to attend customer sites across the UK, as well as the OneArc Farnborough office when required.

Nice to have

• Hands-on Virtual Battlespace (VBS) experience — e.g. Administrator course completion and regular active usage.
• ITIL qualification.
• In-depth knowledge of computer hardware, software, and software development lifecycles.
• Familiarity with military simulation, interoperability standards, and military R&D.
• Detailed knowledge of the broader VBS product suite.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and dedicated project planning software.
