About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Manager to lead our legal collections department at OPF. Reporting directly to the General Counsel / Head of Legal, the Legal Manager will oversee the legal collection function's day-to-day operations and long-term direction, manage and develop the Legal Supervisor and the broader legal collections team, and serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on legal collections strategy, risk, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop the legal collections department, including the Legal Supervisor and legal team members — setting priorities, providing mentorship and training, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Define and drive the legal collection department's strategy, policies, and processes to support the company's growth and risk management objectives.
- Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex legal collection matters, overseeing the review and negotiation of high-impact contracts and agreements.
- Partner with executive leadership to provide strategic legal counsel on business decisions, compliance frameworks, and regulatory matters.
- Ensure the legal collection department's compliance with applicable laws and regulations, proactively identifying legal risks and implementing mitigation strategies across the organization.
- Collaborate closely with Associate Corporate Counsel on legal collection risks and exposure, and develop strategies to enhance legal collections.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial services in a leadership or managerial capacity, including direct oversight of supervisors or team leads.
- Proven track record of managing and developing teams, including supervisors, in a fast-paced financial services environment.
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate legal risk into practical business guidance.
- Strong organizational, communication, and executive-level leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research databases.
- No legal experience or background is required for this position.
