Requirements

What You'll Do

  • Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans across multiple subjects, adapted to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Build a well-organized, inclusive, and safe classroom where students feel encouraged to participate, collaborate, and grow.
  • Track student progress through quizzes, tests, and assignments, and give timely, meaningful feedback to students and families.
  • Recognize and respond to the unique needs of individual students, including those with special educational requirements.
  • Keep parents and guardians in the loop with proactive updates on academic progress, behavior, and any concerns.
  • Stay current through ongoing professional development, bringing fresh strategies and trends back into the classroom.
  • Team up with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to align curriculum and tackle school-wide priorities together.
  • Put technology and educational resources to work in ways that elevate the learning experience.
  • Model and nurture respect, responsibility, and empathy, helping students grow socially as well as academically.
  • Keep student safety and well-being front and center, including during emergency situations.

What You'll Need

  • A genuine passion for improving educational opportunities for urban students and building a strong, mission-driven organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field preferred.
  • Teaching credential or certification required, including state-specific certification or licensure as applicable.
  • Classroom experience, including student teaching or internships, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of educational principles, child development, and classroom management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the patience and adaptability this age range calls for.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to continued personal and professional growth.
