About this role
Pediatric Therapy Fieldwork & Clinical Placements
Tell us you're interested. We'll take it from there.
This isn't a job posting — it's an open door. If you're a therapy student who wants to spend your fieldwork, practicum, or clinical rotation with Oaklin Lane, this is where you raise your hand. Tell us who you are and when you're looking, and we'll start the conversation from there.
On our Lane, students are part of the team
You didn't go to school to watch from the doorway. From your first week, you're on the floor with kids and families, in the room for team huddles, and part of the case conversations that shape care. Your supervising clinician is a mentor first — someone with the time to teach you, watch you work, and tell you the truth about how you're doing. You'll leave with real hours, real reps, and a clear picture of the clinician you're becoming.
About Oaklin Lane
Oaklin Lane is your neighborhood pediatric therapy clinic — a growing network of purpose-built clinics providing compassionate, expert care to kids from infancy through adolescence. We believe in evidence-backed therapy where hard work feels like play, and progress happens on each kid’s own terms.
Who this is for
Graduate students in speech-language pathology looking for a clinical practicum or externship placement
Occupational therapy students looking for a Level I or Level II fieldwork placement
Physical therapy students looking for a pediatric clinical education experience
SLPA, COTA, and PTA students completing the clinical hours required by their program
Students earlier in their program who want observation hours before they choose a specialty
If your program calls it something we haven't listed, reach out anyway. If pediatrics is where you want to be, we want to hear from you.
What your placement looks like
One-on-one time with kids from infancy through adolescence, under the supervision of a licensed Oaklin Lane clinician
Hands-on practice with treatment planning, session prep, and play-based intervention
Documentation practice in a real EMR, reviewed and taught by your supervisor
A seat at team huddles, case discussions, and interdisciplinary conversations across speech, OT, and PT
Regular feedback — scheduled, specific, and honest — plus whatever evaluations your school requires, completed on time
The Oaklin Lane way of doing the work: one set of clinical standards, one approach to families, taught the same way at every clinic
Why do your fieldwork at Oaklin Lane
A supervisor with time for you. Mentorship is built into how our clinics are staffed, so teaching you is part of your supervisor’s job — not something squeezed in at the end of the day.
A space built for the work. Our clinics are purpose-built from the ground up for pediatric therapy. Designed for how kids actually move, play, and learn.
Three disciplines under one roof. Speech, OT, and PT sit side by side on our lane. Even if you're here for one, you'll learn how the others think.
A team that shows up for each other. We celebrate progress, support each other, and create a place people genuinely want to be. That’s how culture works on our lane.
A first step that can keep going. Fieldwork is how a lot of great clinicians meet their first team. When a student is a strong fit and we have a lane open, we’d rather hire someone we’ve already worked beside.
What we ask of you
You are:
Curious, coachable, and ready to be taught
Someone who meets kids where they are
A clear, warm communicator with families and teammates
Dependable — you show up, on time, prepared
A team player who pitches in before being asked
You bring:
Active enrollment in an accredited speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or assistant-level program
A clinical coordinator or faculty advisor at your school we can coordinate with
Whatever your program and the state require to place you — immunizations, background check, HIPAA training, liability coverage, and student registration or permits where applicable
A genuine interest in pediatrics — no prior pediatric experience needed
How placements work
Placements run through an affiliation agreement between Oaklin Lane and your school. If we don't have one with your program yet, we're glad to start it — tell us who to contact.
Availability depends on which clinics have a supervising clinician with room to mentor that term, so we match students to openings as they come up rather than posting set slots.
Supervision follows state guidelines for your discipline and level, which shapes what you can do and how closely you're supervised.
Fieldwork placements are unpaid academic experiences completed for school credit and hours. They aren't offers of employment, and raising your hand here doesn't guarantee a placement.

Come see what we are building
The first move is the hardest one — we’ll take you through the rest. Request a rotation here with your program, discipline, and the term you're hoping to place. Tell us you'd like to see the clinic and we'll set up a visit, whether or not there's a placement open right now.
Oaklin Lane is an equal opportunity employer, committed to creating a workplace where every clinician is welcome on our lane.
