About this role
☀️ About Nowadays
We're building the future of in-person connection, from intimate exec offsites to a conference-level company offsite.
Nowadays is the first AI-powered platform for planning corporate events. Our software handles everything from venue sourcing to vendor negotiations, making it easier and faster for teams to meet up in real life.
We've planned events across the globe for companies like Google, Airbnb, and Quantstamp, and we're just getting started.
Our mission is simple: make it easier for teams to create meaningful moments together.
👥 Who we are
We're a sister-founded team based in San Francisco. We move fast, care deeply, and love bringing people together (whether it's a strategic offsite or a Friendsgiving in our Nowadays home).
We believe the best teams:
Take ownership
Keep things scrappy
Celebrate wins (big and small)
Genuinely enjoy working (+ hanging out) together
Some of our favorite team excursions so far:
Flying trapeze
Steak-offs at home
Hauling a Christmas tree up to the office
Hitting the spa after a big launch
Racing an Ironman Relay
🎯 What this role is
This is a zero-to-one operations role. You'll take messy, fast-moving workflows and turn them into systems that are simple, teachable, and scalable, without losing the human care that defines Nowadays.
💼 What you'll do
80% of your time will focus on event operations and client communication
Own events end-to-end simultaneously, including clear written + verbal on-brand client communication
Own and evolve the end-to-end ops flow for running events, from first request to post-event wrap
Be the point person for prioritizing urgent vs non-urgent ops issues
Turn tribal knowledge into clear documentation, onboarding, and templates that anyone can use
The remaining 20% of your time will focus on building for scale
Build scalable playbooks for: running a single complex event start-to-finish, and managing many events in parallel
Partner closely with engineering to: translate customer feedback and bugs into clear product requirements and actionable tickets, and help test, validate, and refine tools before launch
Create and maintain internal resources: ops onboarding docs, and client-facing guides and templates for planning offsites
Continuously identify what should be simplified, automated, or eliminated
🥇 What we're looking for
You consistently put clients first, understanding that this can sometimes require late nights or weekend work
You can juggle multiple workstreams and know how to prioritize quickly
You're excellent at turning complexity into clarity
You care deeply about process, but never at the expense of momentum
Extreme attention to detail
You're comfortable working across ops, product, dev, sales, and clients
You communicate clearly, thoughtfully, and with good judgment
You like building systems that other people can run
You want to shape how a company operates, not just follow a playbook
✨ Bonus points
Startup zero-to-one experience
Experience working with clients + owning client relationships
Strong intuition for customer experience and boundaries
Experience writing clear tickets in tools like Linear or Jira
Comfort with basic SQL or data analysis to answer operational questions
Comfort using AI/tools to replace manual, repetitive work
