Job Summary:
We are seeking a detailed-orientated, strong team player and highly organized candidate to join our group as a Surgical Care Coordinator. You are responsible for the coordination and education of services for our patients’ receiving surgery with our Orthopedic/Spine Physicians. You will play a vital role in patient scheduling, procedure coordination and surgery chart preparation.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule patients for Orthopedic/Spine Surgeries
  • Verify patient’s insurance benefits and coverage; collecting any out-of-pocket patient responsibilities
  • Obtaining pre-operative clearances from Primary Care Providers, Cardiologist, Nephrologist, etc
  • Coordinate with patients their pre-operative, surgery and post-operative appointments and requirements
  • Coordinating any changes with Physicians surgery schedule with Clinical Director and/or facilities
  • Preparing weekly surgery charts for clinical team members
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with patients, providers, team members and facility staff
  • Entering and updating patient information in the EMR system
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times
  • Any other job duties as assigned
 
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Customer Service Experience
  • Anatomy knowledge
  • Insurance knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication & analytical skills
  • Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively, remain calm in busy or stressful situations and work well with minimal supervision; skill in exercising initiative, judgement, discretion and decision-making to achieve practice objectives
  • Knowledge and adherence to HIPPA, Compliance and OSHA
 
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Surgical Coordinator
  • Experience with EMR software preferred – Athena
  • Experience with Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, Office 365

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Office setting – sitting for long periods of time
  • Some travel may be required for training purposes
 
Job Type:
  • Full-time
  • Monday – Friday
  • 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., hour lunch
 
Salary: commensurate with experience
