POSITION: PRODUCTION MANAGER

OVERVIEW OF JOB OBJECTIVES:

Oversee all manufacturing operations within the paper mill to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. Establish a comprehensive training program for production associates. Manage associates weekly scheduling. Manage production consumable inventories and budget. 

JOB STANDARDS (Minimum qualifications needed to perform essential job functions):

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing production processes; managing staff; maintaining equipment performance; and ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and quality standards.

EQUIPMENT (Machines, devices, tools, etc., used in job performance):

Oversee the operation and maintenance teams, pulp, paper machines, and finishing equipment. Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure preventative and predictive maintenance programs are effective. Troubleshoot production issues and help develop long-term solutions.

Oversee forklift, hand tools, overhead cranes, aerial lift, skid steer, front end loader, broderson, man lift.

STAMINA (Hours and days of work requirements):

8-hour shifts / 5 days per week

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (not all inclusive):

  • Develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on customer demand and capacity.
  • Monitor and adjust production schedules to minimize downtime and maximize output.
  • Ensure all paper grades and specifications meet quality and performance standards.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar methodologies.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as machine efficiency, yield, waste reduction, and energy usage.
  • Analyze production data and implement corrective measures to improve productivity.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of pulp, paper machines, and finishing equipment.
  • Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure preventive and predictive maintenance programs are effective.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and help develop long-term solutions.
  • Supervise and mentor production supervisors, machine operators, and support staff.
  • Lead daily shift meetings and communicate production goals, issues, and safety topics.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, industry standards, and mill policies.
  • Partner with Quality Control to maintain consistent product quality and minimize defects.
  • Maintain full adherence to safety standards (OSHA 1910 Standards)

Competitive Salary, with a general salary range of $111,744.00 to $139,680.00, or higher depending on education and experience.
