Summary of Position:
The Concrete & Asphalt Finisher performs general laborer duties on asphalt and concrete patching crew.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform the duties of a concrete finishing technician as necessary
- Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete floors to specified texture and flatness using hand and power tools
- Operate light equipment such as ride-on power trowels, walk-behind power trowels, etc. to perform concrete finishing tasks
- Measure and lay out contraction joints for the sawing and jointing of concrete slabs
- Use power saws (e.g., Soft cut/early entry saws, hand held demolition saws, wet cut saws) to cut concrete slab to prevent uncontrolled cracking of cured slab
- Apply curing compounds as necessary/required over concrete surface to increase curing action of water
- Assist with troubleshooting and solving concrete finishing problems as they arise
- Clean and maintain all hand tools and power equipment used in the concrete finishing process
- Keep work area clean and safe at all times
- Comply with all company, state, OSHA safety rules, regulations and guidelines applicable to finishing concrete at the job site
- Operate as a safe and productive member of a finishing crew/team
- Set-up and break down job sites
- Dump, shovel, level, rake, sweep, roll and inspect asphalt
- Set up, pour and finish concrete
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous construction experience, concrete and/or asphalt experience
- Concrete ADA Ramp experience
- Ability to bend, lift, kneel and reach
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
Pay range (based on years of relevant experience): $20-$35/hr
