Scope and Purpose

The basic function of the position is to lay out, align, and assemble raw metal materials into finished structural frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Selects type and size of materials and equipment according to specifications
  • Inspects work site to determine presence of obstructions
  • Plans installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers
  • Prepares materials by cutting, contouring, and beveling metal using saws, shears, or torches
  • Cuts, threads, and bend pipe
  • Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, fittings, and fabricated parts before final welding or riveting
  • Connects pipe and parts using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, or fused joints
  • Installs and maintains compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls and piping
  • Welds pipe supports to structural steel members
  • Verifying dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring instruments (calipers, squares, rulers) to ensure alignment with design specifications
  • Observes production machines in assigned area of manufacturing facility to deduct machinery malfunctions
  • Operates machinery to verify repair
  • Adhering strictly to workplace safety regulations, which requires using proper PPE and working safely at varying heights or confined spaces

Organization Relationships

Regardless of other duties, has a responsibility to follow Morrison's production, safety, and quality procedures

Requirements

  • Required - High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Training - TWIC, Safegulf, Rigger, First Aid and CPR, Water Survival
  • Other - Must be able to read blue prints
