Moody Bible Institute invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Children and Family Ministry to join the Applied Theology and Church Ministries Department at our Chicago campus. We are seeking a dedicated scholar, experienced ministry practitioner, and gifted educator who is passionate about preparing students to serve children, parents, and families through biblically grounded and ministry-focused leadership.

The Opportunity

The Assistant Professor of Children and Family Ministry serves as a faculty member within the Undergraduate School and provides academic leadership as Program Head for the Children and Family Ministry major. This role is responsible for teaching, mentoring students, overseeing internships and ministry experiences, and contributing to the strategic development of the program.

The successful candidate will help advance Moody Bible Institute's mission of providing a Bible-centered education that equips students to know Christ and make Him known through effective ministry in churches, organizations, families, and communities around the world.

What You’ll Do

• Teach undergraduate courses in Children and Family Ministry, including biblical foundations, applied theology, child discipleship, family ministry, and practical ministry leadership.
• Develop course syllabi, learning outcomes, and assessments that support academic excellence and ministry preparation.
• Serve as Program Head for the Children and Family Ministry major, providing program leadership, oversight, and strategic direction.
• Design, coordinate, and oversee internships, service-learning experiences, and community engagement opportunities.
• Teach in multiple instructional formats, including in-person and online learning environments.
• Advise and mentor students in their academic, vocational, and spiritual development.
• Maintain regular office hours and an active campus presence.
• Collaborate with faculty and institutional leaders to support program growth, ministry partnerships, curriculum development, and scholarly engagement.
• Participate in faculty meetings, committee responsibilities, and institutional initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Master's degree in Children's Ministry, Applied Theology, Christian Education, Ministry Leadership, or a related field.
• Ability to teach across related disciplines, including Applied Theology, Church Ministries, Elementary Education, and related ministry areas.
• Commitment to transformational learning, student discipleship, and practical ministry preparation.
• Ability to teach effectively in multiple learning environments, including online instruction.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and mentoring skills.
• Demonstrated spiritual maturity, integrity, passion, and perseverance.
• Collaborative and team-oriented mindset with an openness to diverse ministry approaches.
• Commitment to the authority of Scripture and alignment with Moody Bible Institute's mission and doctrinal position.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred

• Earned doctorate in a related discipline.
• Experience leading children's, family, or next-generation ministry initiatives within church or community settings.
• Demonstrated success developing, growing, or sustaining academic and ministry programs.
• College-level teaching experience.

Work Environment

• Faculty members engage in teaching, mentoring, scholarship, and service within a Christ-centered academic environment.
• This position includes classroom instruction, academic advising, committee participation, and collaboration with colleagues across the institution.
• Work is performed in professional office, classroom, and ministry-related settings.
• Faculty schedules generally occur Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.
