The Aviation Screener is responsible for delivering efficient, safe, and discreet flight support services while ensuring compliance with security procedures and regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Customer Service Manager, this role plays a critical part in shaping first and last impressions for charter clients by maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and a strong commitment to safety and customer service.

This is a Variable position, which offers the flexibility to set your own schedule as work becomes available.

Customer Service & Client Experience

Provide excellent customer service with a professional, respectful, and discreet approach
Communicate effectively with charter coordinators, customers, and team members
Anticipate client needs and respond promptly to requests or concerns
Maintain strong ramp etiquette and a customer first mindset

Safety, Security & Compliance

Conduct passenger and baggage screening using required screening equipment
Perform physical searches and take appropriate action when identifying prohibited or dangerous items
Ensure immediate notification of Law Enforcement and/or Airline Ground Security Coordinator when required
Safeguard ramp access by preventing unauthorized personnel or unattended vehicles
Comply with all company policies, TSA regulations, and safety/security procedures
Maintain eligibility to obtain and hold a security sensitive identification badge
Report all government tests, real weapons, injuries, and major incidents immediately

Ramp Operations & Equipment

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe ramp environment
Ensure all gates are secured when the ramp is unattended
Verify equipment is functional and in proper working condition
Assist with handling baggage and cargo as needed
Identify and report maintenance needs or operational issues

Teamwork & Communication

Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors and team members
Keep supervisor informed of operational needs, concerns, and issues
Work collaboratively to support safe and efficient operations
Treat all information with strict confidentiality

Professional Standards

Maintain proper uniform and appearance in accordance with company standards
Ensure identification badges are always visible
Adhere to attendance expectations and report to work on a regular, timely basis
Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age
HS diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
Ability to lift or move 50lbs
Ability to maintain professionalism in a security sensitive environment
Basic knowledge of aircraft types and ground servicing operations
Ability to perform basic math calculations (e.g., percentages, measurements, volume)
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously

Working conditions and physical demands for this role

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions including extreme heat and cold; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and vibration; chemicals including aviation fuels, oils, and lavatory fluid. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Modern Aviation’s Pay Range

$16.00 - $17.00/hr. *Part-time, Seasonal, and Variable positions are not eligible for health benefits.
