About this role
About Mimo
Mimo is an AI-native platform for accounting firms. We automate the recurring work inside the monthly close, from chasing client documents and reconciling transactions to posting adjustments and reviewing VAT before it is filed, so accountants spend their time on judgement instead of admin.
Accounting is being rebuilt around AI right now. We intend to be the ones who rebuild it, and to help the firms that get there first do the best work of their careers. We are a team of 35 across Stockholm and London, backed by top European investors including Northzone and Project A, growing rapidly across the UK's top 10-250 firms, with new markets next.
The role
The interesting engineering problem here is not the models. It is everything around them: making agent output reliable enough to put in front of a firm, keeping the system fast when it is processing a month of transactions, and building a product people trust with work they are accountable for.
We're now looking for a senior engineer to lead that work. You'll take on large technical initiatives end to end, from the architecture down to the decisions that stop it going wrong at scale, and you'll set the standard for how the team builds. You'll work across the stack alongside a strong engineering team, from our office in central Stockholm, on a product firms are adopting quickly.
Compensation: market rate salary, retirement contribution and stock options
Holidays: 30 days per year
Working setup: we work closely together from our office in central Stockholm, with flexibility for a hybrid setup
What you'll do
Lead large technical initiatives, from architecture through to delivery
Build the core systems that automate accounting work, including document handling, reconciliation and adjustments
Craft pragmatic solutions to high impact product opportunities, and know which problems to leave alone
Work across the stack to get the work done. Our stack is Go, TypeScript, Python, Postgres and GCP
Raise the bar on how the team builds, through code review, technical direction and the standards you hold
Collaborate closely with product and design to ship things people want to use
What we're looking for
Senior or staff level experience at product companies with strong engineering cultures. You know what great engineering looks like when building a product, because you have seen and done it before
Comfortable across the stack, in web, backend, infrastructure or data, and willing to work outside your strongest area
Strong grasp of building for production, including the reliability, performance and operational realities of a system people depend on
A bias for shipping. You prioritise ruthlessly, get things in front of users early, and iterate
A strong sense of ownership. You take initiatives from problem to production without needing to be managed through them
Looking for a team where excellence is recognised and there is a high velocity of learning and iterating
Bonus
Experience with Go, or comfort picking up a new language quickly
Familiarity with Temporal or other background workflow orchestrators
Experience working with financial or accounting data, or excitement to learn the domain
Open-source contributions, side projects, or genuine curiosity about technology
