About Milestone Treatment Center
Milestone Treatment Center provides compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals facing substance use and mental health challenges. Our multidisciplinary team is committed to creating an environment where clients feel supported, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.
We're looking for an engaging Group Facilitator who can bring energy, empathy, and structure to our group programming and help make treatment an experience clients actively participate in—not something they simply attend.
About the Role
As a Group Facilitator, you'll lead structured therapeutic and psychoeducational groups for clients participating in PHP, IOP, and outpatient treatment programs.
This role is about connecting with people. You'll create an environment where clients feel comfortable participating, exploring difficult topics, developing new skills, and learning from one another.
The ideal facilitator knows how to read a room, keep people engaged, manage different personalities, and turn meaningful topics into productive conversations.
What You'll Do
Plan and facilitate engaging groups aligned with client needs and program goals.
Use evidence-based, trauma-informed, and client-centered approaches to guide group discussions and activities.
Help clients develop coping skills, self-awareness, emotional regulation, communication skills, and recovery strategies.
Create a group environment built around trust, respect, participation, and accountability.
Encourage clients to participate while recognizing and respecting different comfort levels and communication styles.
Effectively manage group dynamics, challenging behaviors, and sensitive discussions.
Recognize client concerns that require additional clinical attention and communicate them to the appropriate team members.
Complete timely and accurate group notes and required documentation.
Collaborate with therapists, counselors, case managers, medical providers, and other members of our multidisciplinary treatment team.
Contribute ideas for new groups, activities, curriculum, and programming.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and client confidentiality.
Follow applicable HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, ethical, regulatory, and Milestone requirements.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who can do more than stand in front of a room and present information. A great Group Facilitator knows how to create conversation, build trust, encourage participation, and keep a group moving in a productive direction.
You'll thrive in this role if you're engaging, adaptable, emotionally aware, organized, and comfortable working with people at different stages of recovery.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Health, Human Services, or a related field required.
Master's degree preferred.
Relevant clinical licensure or certification, such as LCSW or LPC, is a plus but not required.
Previous experience facilitating groups within behavioral health, substance use treatment, mental health, or social services strongly preferred.
Knowledge of group process, facilitation techniques, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based interventions.
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build rapport while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Ability to manage challenging group dynamics calmly and professionally.
Strong organizational skills and ability to complete required documentation accurately and on time.
Commitment to client-centered, culturally responsive, and compassionate care.
