About this role
Milacron is looking for a CNC Operator to join our team in Mt. Orab, Ohio. In this position, you will be responsible for setting up and operating Weingartner grinding equipment to machine and finish metal components to engineering and quality specifications while supporting safe, efficient manufacturing operations.
Work You’ll Do:
- Set up and operate Weingartner grinding equipment to grind metal parts to required specifications and tolerances.
- Grind castings, billets, machine parts, and other metal components to achieve smooth or rough-finished surfaces as required.
- Remove excess metal, burrs, and surface imperfections using rotating grinding wheels and abrasive equipment.
- Examine, inspect, and measure workpieces to verify conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and company standards.
- Select, mount, and change abrasive wheels with appropriate grit sizes to achieve specified finishes.
- Verify product identification and job requirements using job travelers and production documentation.
- Interpret complex blueprints, part drawings, sectional views, process sheets, and company standards.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments to perform inspections and accurately record results.
- Monitor machine performance and perform preventative maintenance activities to maintain production continuity.
- Monitor and maintain proper machine fluid levels and ensure equipment operates effectively.
- Operate overhead cranes to lift, position, and transport components safely.
- Collaborate with Quality and Manufacturing teams to address defects, nonconformances, and process-related issues.
- Maintain standards related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, 5S, housekeeping, teamwork, and attendance.
- Recommend improvements to products, processes, and overall operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
Qualifications:
- Technical Program Certificate, or 1+ years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience operating grinding equipment, machines, and grinding processes required.
- Ability to inspect commercial and manufactured parts for compliance with engineering specifications and company standards.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and process documentation.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments preferred.
- Ability to utilize overhead cranes safely and effectively preferred.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to safely operate power tools and manufacturing equipment.
