About this role
About Lunos
Most B2B companies are owed millions and chase it with spreadsheets, sticky notes and politely worded reminder emails. The money is sitting right there, trapped, while finance teams burn nights and weekends trying to pull it in by hand, answer customers’ questions and get their books straight. We think that is a job for an agent, not a person.
Lunos is building an agent-to-agent network for B2B payments. We started with the AI partner for accounts receivable. Our first agent ran collections the way an experienced AR pro would, only it never sleeps, never forgets a follow-up and gets sharper with every invoice. Finance leaders choose how much rope to give it through autonomy modes: Monitor, Suggest or Act. We’ve expanded into products from cash flow forecasts to dispute management, and next we’re adding payables - the other side of the transaction.
We are headquartered in New York and backed by General Catalyst and Cherry Ventures, plus angels including current and former CFOs from the likes of Eli Lilly and Deliveroo.
Our founder Duncan Barrigan was Chief Product Officer and Chief Growth Officer at GoCardless, where he founded product management and spent most of a decade building a $2.2bn B2B payments company. Duncan’s trained dozens of product people, with many of them today working as product leaders and VC-backed founders.
Our values are simple and we mean them: we are curious, courageous and relentless.
About the role
This is our first product hire. You will report directly to our Founder & CEO Duncan (a former CPO) and work as closely with our customers as you do with engineering. This role combines what in the pre-AI world would be called a mixture of product management, customer success and bits of engineering.
To build AI agents that handle work like a human you have to be hands on, not in an ivory tower. You’ll be in the trenches, answering that question the customer asks in Slack at 7pm because Lunos couldn’t answer for itself. You’ll be responsible for figuring out which requests it can already support and how, which we should add and when we should say no. You’ll be this close to customers because you can’t figure out how to make Lunos better at its overnight “dreams” without actually trying to improve a customers’ account performance for them yourself first.
We move fast to solve problems and ship small improvements same-day. We’re not looking for an engineer, but we expect you to use AI to build AI. You should be technical enough that you can (or could quickly learn) to spot when Claude’s making mistakes and be able to oversee it to deploy small changes. We have a bias for action, not just shuffling tickets around.
We have offices in New York and London and customers across ten time zones. We’re not 996ers, but we work hard and believe this is a career-defining opportunity for the right person and want someone who recognises who sees it that way.
What you'll do
This is a fast-moving early stage environment, and you should proactively take on whatever will have the biggest impact.
You will be responsible for:
- Making sure customers have an amazing experience with the Lunos product, from onboarding to ongoing usage, and that we are highly responsive to their needs and suggestions
- Shaping the future of Lunos products from the coal face, understanding problems from your customer and prospect conversations and data analysis, and prioritizing which ones it will make the biggest difference to tackle
- Taking on appropriate small changes yourself, and for the rest helping design and engineering come up with brilliant solutions and deliver them as effectively as possible
- Supporting the founder on company and product strategy, and working with the GTM team to ensure our success winning new business
We expect delivering this will see you working on tasks across product, customer, and engineering, as well as parts of QA, data and more. This is an opportunity to work with a highly experienced team and learn how to build, deliver and support agentic AI products.
What we're looking for
We expect we will one day all be asking you if we can invest in your startup, or watching you be a big-time CEO.
We care more about your drive, raw ability and potential than a specific resume. We’re open to a range of experience levels and do not require you to have worked in product before.
For this to work, you will need to be:
- An extremely fast learner who we’re certain will rapidly master how AR works
- Relentless and highly driven. You should actively dislike not finishing off what you’ve started
- Effortlessly curious and always asking why, but with a goal-oriented mindset that uses this to deliver solutions quickly
- Technical enough to at least show us something impressive you’ve vibe-coded
- A structured, analytical problem solver, most likely with a STEM / quantitative degree from a top-tier college/university. You’re as comfortable digging deep into the data to understand why a metric is moving as you are taking a complex set of user problems and finding the one simple solution
- Have at least two years of post-college experience, ideally in a start-up or tech company but this could also be in consulting or banking, for example
Bonus points for:
- Entrepreneurial experience
- Experience in, or close to, a high-performance product development team
We want people who live at least one of our values so well that we question whether we’re curious, courageous and relentless enough ourselves.
Compensation and benefits
- Compensation: $125,000 - $175,000 cash compensation, depending on experience
- Equity: Meaningful early-stage equity, varying with experience. You are a founding product hire and you will own a real piece of the upside.
- Growth: The right person has the opportunity to lead product at Lunos as we grow, and with an ex-CPO founder we will not need to bring someone in above you
- Flexibility: Hybrid model based out of our New York office, balancing in-person momentum with room to breathe.
- Culture: A small, ambitious team that moves fast, backed by top-tier investors and a founder who has built in this space before.
- Travel: We gather the team from London and New York several times a year for hack weeks and offsites - in the spring we took everyone to a villa in Tuscany
- Benefits: Including healthcare
