About this role

Lumera Energy is building the core product that controls billions in energy assets. As a Founding Engineer, you’ll own the backend for real-time optimization and forecasting, build frontend dashboards for battery operators, and architect scalable infrastructure for thousands of battery systems. This is a hands-on, founding-stage role with a strong impact on product and company trajectory.

What youll do

  • Own and build the core product that drives real-time optimization and forecasting for energy assets.
  • Develop backend services and optimization algorithms to process data in real time.
  • Create frontend dashboards for battery operators to monitor and control assets.
  • Design and scale infrastructure to support thousands of battery systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product features and requirements.
  • Deploy production-ready optimizations and iterate based on deployment feedback.

What Lumera Energy is looking for

  • Experience in the energy industry.
  • Startup experience (startup counts if younger than 3 years and less than 50 employees).
  • Frontend development skills with JavaScript/TypeScript and React (prefer Next.js).
  • Experience with Tailwind CSS.
  • Solid backend development experience with Python and mixed-integer optimizations.
  • Experience in a full-stack engineering role, building production applications.
  • Fluency in German (most customers speak German).
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure).
  • Deployed optimizations in production systems.
  • CS, Math or Electrical Engineering degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) with a grade better than 2.0.
