Position Overview:
The Housekeeping Staff provide the day-to-day housekeeping in the facility in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility and to assure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
- Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
- Wear non-slip shoes as required.
- Ensure that containers of hazardous chemicals in the department are properly labeled and stored. Follow established policies governing the use of labels and MSDSs.
- Participate in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or hazardous chemicals.
- Assist in maintaining material safety data sheets (MSDSs) for hazardous chemicals in the laundry department.
- Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents.
- Coordinate routine/terminal/isolation procedures with the nursing service.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Six months of housekeeping experience is required; experience in a skilled nursing or similar healthcare setting is highly preferred.
