JOB SUMMARY:
Lincoln University invites applications for a part-time faculty position in the Department of Languages & Literature who has experience teaching composition courses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach undergraduate/graduate courses in specific content areas as assigned by department chairpersons.
- Prepares syllabi that meet department and university standards.
- Prepares meaningful classroom experiences which include a variety of pedagogical strategies, including lectures, discussion, tests and exams.
- Compiles, administers, and grades examinations.
- Participates in Assessment activities by submitting data of student learning outcomes in a timely fashion.
- And all other relevant duties as assigned by the Chair.
EDUCATION:
- Master’s degree required in English or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
- Teaching experience in an undergraduate/graduate institution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
- Must be able to make decisions supporting the department’s mission and goals.
- Must have excellent communication skills, oral and written.
- Must have interpersonal skills, and the ability to work within a culturally diverse organization.
- Must have a high level of professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment and requires a flexible schedule including possible evening and weekend work. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Moderate lifting up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects; dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; and body mobility to stoop, kneel, and bend and reach.
