This role is well suited to someone early in their career, offering hands-on exposure to the recordkeeping and data systems that feed the company's global ESG and sustainability reporting. Reporting to the Senior EHS Manager, the Technician executes the transactional, administrative, and recordkeeping work behind both sites' EHS programs: data entry and reporting, PPE administration, sustainability reporting inputs, and system-of-record maintenance, within established procedures and priorities. The role interfaces directly with employees daily, including PPE coordination, communication board updates, and outgoing-shift follow-up. Regular, proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. The EHS Technician is an hourly, non-exempt position based at Carrollton Cable, supporting EHS programs at both Carrollton Cable and Connectivity on an early day shift.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Advanced Excel skills, including filtering, sorting, and analyzing exported data, plus strong Word and PowerPoint proficiency.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent written/verbal communication.
- Team player, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong advocate for Environmental, Safety, Health, and Wellness.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications, certifications, and/or licenses)
- 2-year technical degree, certification, or bachelor’s degree in environmental, health and safety, or a related field.
- Experience with integrated management systems (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001).
- EHS internship experience.
- OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour General Industry certification.
- NREP Associate Environmental Professional (AEP) or Federal OSHA Structure Standards certification.
- ESG/sustainability internship experience.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety Systems & Reporting
- Manage user access and support day-to-day use of the site's compliance software (currently Mitti, formerly SafetyCulture).
- Manipulate data exported from reporting systems in Excel, filtering, organizing, and formatting already-classified data, to support reporting for both Carrollton Cable and Connectivity.
- Enter data for recurring monthly corporate and regional safety reporting.
- Build the first draft of the monthly EHS results deck for Cable and Connectivity using the established template, updating data, charts, and recurring category slides from source reports.
- Maintain incident documentation and track action items to closure.
PPE Program
- Coordinate safety shoe and prescription safety glasses vouchers, appointments, and vendor scheduling. This is the PPE Program's main hands-on coordination work. General PPE is vendor-managed through an onsite vending machine and requires minimal ongoing administration.
- Restock visitor PPE and supplies at the Security gate as needed.
- Start the shift early enough to catch the outgoing night crew for same-day administrative follow-up, for example, PPE status, voucher issuance, or onsite prescription safety glasses appointments.
Environmental Compliance
- Maintain and update the site's hazardous waste manifest tracking workbook, logging manifest and weekly generation data and monitoring SQG threshold status.
- Coordinate scheduled waste disposal and recycling pickups with contracted vendors.
- Support SPCC and SWPPP compliance as a member of the Pollution Prevention Team: verify interior and exterior control implementation and support third-party consultants during routine inspections and sampling visits.
- Enter Scope 1, 2, and 3 data into the designated sustainability reporting system, following the current data collection process and any successor process as systems change.
- Maintain the chemical inventory database and support accessibility to safety data sheets for site personnel.
Training & Orientation
- Coordinate contractor and visitor orientation scheduling and logistics.
- Administer training records and the training schedule.
Administrative & Scheduling
- Update communication boards at both Carrollton Cable and Connectivity with current safety and campaign materials.
- Process purchase requisitions and contracted service agreements in the site's procurement system (currently SAP), from order through payment, coordinating with vendors, Purchasing, and Accounting; and track departmental invoices and work orders.
- Track and update the EHS compliance calendar (currently the site's EHS Master Compliance Calendar workbook).
- Coordinate compliance and program scheduling for Connectivity, tracking due dates and scheduling activities under the Connectivity Safety and Health Management Plan and applicable compliance calendar items.
- Coordinate EHS meeting scheduling, materials, and logistics.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by the Senior EHS Manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and PowerPoint, at an intermediate level; advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation and analysis, are critical to this role.
- Ability to learn and use data-entry and reporting systems accurately and consistently; comfortable adapting to new platforms as tools change.
- Willing to learn the site's EHS-specific tools and technology as part of the role.
- Must be able to learn to use SAP to process purchase requisitions, orders, and payments for goods and services.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage multiple recurring tasks and deadlines across environmental, safety, and reporting functions.
- Strong attention to detail in recordkeeping and compliance documentation.
- Maintains professional conduct and discretion; contributes to a collaborative, respectful team environment.

- Proficient with MS Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Maintain discretion when handling confidential and proprietary information.
- Strict adherence to Company safety policies and procedures.
- Conform to all aspects of Lightera’s “Standards of Conduct” document.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Regular presence on the manufacturing floor is required, including extended periods of walking and standing during PPE distribution and communication board updates.
