Purpose:
This is a part-time, on average 10 hours per week, position. As a work study, the Front Desk Attendant serves as the first point of contact for students, visitors, and staff within the residence hall or student center. The role provides assistance to college staff and peers while ensuring a welcoming, secure, and organized environment. With confidentiality in mind, information will be shared with the correct parties, and the attendant will work as a member of the team to increase coverage of the front desk and support the department through daily tasks, projects, and initiatives.
Key Competencies:
- Proficient interpersonal communication skills.
- Maintain confidentiality, as defined by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
- 34 CFR Part 99
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain records.
- Attention to detail.
- Primary Responsibilities:
General administrative tasks such as:
- Greeting students, guests, and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
- Answering phones and taking messages.
- Maintaining accurate logs of guest check-ins and supply check-outs.
- Supervising the front desk.
Department-Specific Responsibilities:
- Sign in and out all guests in accordance with campus safety policies.
- Collect and verify valid student or government-issued ID for all visitors.
- Sign out cleaning supplies (such as vacuums, mops, brooms, etc.) to students and track their return.
- Communicate and enforce front desk and building policies in a courteous, clear manner.
- Report any safety concerns, policy violations, or suspicious activity to appropriate staff.
Pay:
- $13.00 / hour
Hours:
- 10 hours per week between 3pm and 7pm. Unless otherwise authorized
- Hours available 7 days a week
- Subject to change without notice.
Education:
- Must be enrolled at Lackawanna College.
Experience:
- No experience requirement.
