Position Overview
The Assistant Regional Operations Manager (Assistant ROM) is a field-based operational leader responsible for executing company standards through frequent store visits, audits, and hands-on collaboration with Store Managers. This role directly oversees seven Smokers Host locations with a primary focus on audit accuracy, compliance, cash control, pricing integrity, and promotional execution. The AROM ensures operational gaps are identified, documented, and corrected consistently.
Primary Responsibilities
Field Audits & Store Validation
- Conduct required monthly Smokers Host audits in all assigned stores
- Complete lottery audits.
- Perform occasional cash audits including registers and safe contents
- Validate promotional signage for accuracy, placement, and pricing with required photo documentation
- Verify returns are processed correctly and prepared for shipment per policy
- Ensure outdated product is removed, destroyed per policy, and documented with photos
- Document audit findings and follow up to confirm corrective action
Policy Enforcement & Loss Prevention
- Enforce Smokers Host policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor compliance with cash handling, lottery controls, and inventory standards
- Identify repeat deficiencies and escalate trends to the Regional Operations Manager
- Support loss prevention through consistent field oversight
Store Manager Support & Accountability
- Participate in New Manager training on an as-needed basis.
- Review audit results directly with Store Managers
- Clarify expectations and reinforce accountability
- Coach Store Managers on operational execution and compliance
- Support onboarding and training aligned with Smokers Host standards
- Maintain documentation of recurring issues and corrective actions
Merchandising, Pricing & Customer Experience
- Ensure consistent execution of Smokers Host pricing and merchandising standards
- Verify product availability and store readiness during site visits
- Observe and reinforce customer service expectations
- Ensure stores meet cleanliness and appearance standards
Qualifications
- Multi-unit retail leadership experience (tobacco or convenience retail preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of audits, cash controls, pricing validation, and compliance
- Detail-oriented with the ability to enforce standards consistently
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently in the field across multiple locations
