What We Are Looking For

This position is a Compressor Mechanic position at the Yates Field Unit.  The position is geared toward a person with a detailed background in compressor maintenance, including troubleshooting and diagnosis of compressor and engine problems. The successful candidate will serve a vital role in maintaining the safe and efficient operations of the compression facilities.

 

The Yates Field Compression fleet consists of a number of slow speed reciprocating Clark TLAB-6 (2000 hp units), Ingersoll KVS and KVSR, five electric driven Dresser-Rand HHE-VL-3 (5500 hp units),  four electric driven Ariel JGZ/6 (5500hp)  plus one high speed Caterpillar 3608 driven Ariel compressor. The fleet also contains three turbine driven Solar and Delaval centrifugal compressors (3750 hp and 4250 hp units).  The main purpose of these compressors is to compress raw produced gas for further processing or reinjection into the Yates Field Reservoir

 

 


What You Will Do

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot compressors and auxiliary equipment
  • PM’s of compression equipment
  • Oversight and/or support of compressor overhauls
  • Daily maintenance activities such as adding oil, water, lubrication, etc.
  • Manually operate valves as operations dictate
  • Lockout tagout and permitting duties for maintenance work
  • Interact with supervision, compressor operators, and contract personnel
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns
  • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork
  • Provide oral and written communication of activities to appropriate personnel
  • Aid with training of mechanic helpers
  • Aid with startup of compressors during operational upsets
  • May be asked to perform maintenance on other mechanical equipment in the Yates Field including pumps, cooling fans, etc.
  • Operate company vehicles during daily activities

 *Job level commensurate with experience and skill set.


What You Need

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Solid safety and environmental practices

  • Must be able to multitask
  • Strong teamwork
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • May be required to be on-call and respond both during working and non-working hours to emergency calls.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus on attention to detail, and follow work rules.

 

Certifications, licenses, registrations:

Possess and maintain a clean and valid driver's license to meet company insurability requirements.

 

Preferred skills and knowledge:

Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, overhauling:

  • Clark TLAB-6 compressors
  • Ariel compressors
  • Caterpillar 3608 engines
  • Dresser-Rand HHE-VL-3 compressors
  • Ariel JGZ/6
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with vibration analyses and engine analyses is a plus

 

Working conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions
  • Must be able to frequently enter confined spaces, climb to and work from elevated platforms, excavated areas, ladders, stairwells, walkways, etc.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions and ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist (occasional)
  • May work in low-lit areas
  • Depending upon the location and workload, travel will be required
