BUSINESS UNIT: NATURAL GAS PIPELINES

With approximately 66,000 miles of natural gas pipelines, Kinder Morgan owns an interest in or operates the largest natural gas network in North America. We serve the major consuming markets of the United States, and our pipelines transport approximately 40 percent of the natural gas consumed in the U.S. Our pipelines are connected to every important natural gas resource play and supply area, including the Eagle Ford, Marcellus, Bakken, Utica, Uinta Permian, Haynesville, Fayetteville and Barnett. 

 


What You Will Do

Over the course of the Summer 2027 internship, the candidate will have the opportunity to learn the following:

 

  • Analyze and resolve issues regarding natural gas transportation scheduling, allocations, and imbalances.
  • Provide excellent customer service and promptly resolve customer issues.
  • Process nominations and confirmations following federally mandated deadlines.
  • Work with producers, marketers, and downstream interconnects to manage/minimize imbalances.
  • Assist with processing allocations of physical flow.
  • Execute on daily commercial activities that require nominations.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures set forth by NAESB and the pipelines FERC tariff.
  • Lead special projects and contribute to testing efforts of system enhancements.
  • Maintain positive relationships with pipelines, producers, marketers and internal business owners.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You Need

Education:

  • Candidate must be working towards Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.
  • Entering either junior or senior year of college. Senior students must be graduating in December 2027 or later to be eligible. 

 Work Location:

  • Work location will be Houston Headquarters based in Houston, TX.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Highly developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills appropriate in a dynamic open team office environment
  • Ability to positively interface with customers personally via telephone in a highly efficient, knowledgeable, and professional manner.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as work autonomously with limited direct supervision.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities; work within tight and changing deadlines and scope with a high degree of personal initiative.
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize workload in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Solid analytical, conceptualization and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance
  • Must demonstrate accountability by managing daily activities effectively
