About this role

The Woodbury, Long Island office of Kaufman Dolowich, a full-service National Law firm with more than 250 attorneys across 16 offices and over 25 practice areas, is actively seeking an attorney to join our growing General Liability Defense practice.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced litigators on sophisticated general liability defense matters in a collaborative environment. Our attorneys receive meaningful hands-on experience, direct client interaction, and strong mentorship while representing businesses, insurers, and insureds in a broad range of complex litigation matters.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, discovery demands and responses, and other litigation-related documents
  • Communicate directly with clients and provide strategic guidance and regular case updates
  • Take and defend depositions and participate in mediations and settlement negotiations
  • Participate in court appearances, inspections, motion practice, hearings, and trial preparation
  • Handle a broad range of general liability defense matters, including premises liability and New York Labor Law construction accident cases
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex litigation matters

Qualifications

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials
  • Admission to practice in New York required
  • 1+ years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense, general liability, premises liability, or construction accident litigation
  • Exceptional writing, research, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced litigation environment
  • Strong organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills 

Preferred Experience

  • General liability defense litigation
  • Premises liability matters
  • New York Labor Law and construction accident litigation
  • Experience handling depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances
  • Experience working with insurance carriers and insured clients

Base Salary Range: $100,000-$150,000

Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and does not guarantee a specific offer. Actual compensation will be determined based on market location, as well as the candidate’s experience, skills, and job-related qualifications. Base salary represents just one component of the comprehensive Total Rewards package offered by Kaufman Dolowich, which also includes a discretionary and billable hours-based bonus program and a robust benefits offering for full-time employees.
