Summary
Meets with students individually or in small groups to provide academic support related to course content, course-related readings and course-related written assignments so students can successfully complete their coursework; as well as provides instruction, teaching and guidance in the area of academic success skills
Essential Job Functions
- Tutors students on specific course content, course-related readings and course-related written assignments
- Tutors students in the area of academic success skills (e.g. learning strategies, time management, etc.)
- Coordinates tutoring goals with advisers, academic counselors and faculty to effectively meet student needs
- Attends tutor training sessions and staff meetings, as applicable
- Administers individualized tests to students with accommodations
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree
- Experience with tutoring or teaching mathematics, including developmental mathematics, algebra, calculus, quantitative analysis, and statistics
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with tutoring or teaching college students
- Successful candidates must be committed to working effectively with diverse student populations
- Ability to explain and comprehend mathematical problems, concepts and processes and communicate and explain mathematical knowledge effectively to students with varying levels of preparation
Please Note:
Qualified candidates must live or relocate to live within a daily commuting distance of the Charlotte Campus location upon hire.
