What you’ll do

POSITION SUMMARY

PLAN is an accredited Clubhouse Model organization that operates according to Clubhouse International standards (see www.clubhouse-intl.org for more info). PLAN stands for People Living Active Now and is a program of Jewish Family Service of Dallas that is geared to recovery support for individuals with mental health challenges. PLAN is a vital and highly interactive program that offers a place of belonging and is a launch pad for those who are committed to living lives that involve mental wellbeing, self-sufficiency and independence.

What You'll DO

Clubhouse Operations

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Clubhouse by coordinating the coverage and responsibilities of Clubhouse Staff Generalists and volunteers in the realm of transportation, work­ ordered day assignments (such as Daily Calls and Activity Calls, and unit coverage), and special events/projects.
Assist and train current and new staff in the engagement of PLAN Clubhouse members in the operating needs of the Clubhouse and promote member independence and self-reliance. Specific tasks may include but are not limited to teaching how to engage others in food preparation, electronic tracking of information, preparing Clubhouse communication projects, gardening and participation in field trips. Creativity in engagement is encouraged.
Supervise and participate in event planning and set up associated with Clubhouse socialization events, which include activities on holidays, on a rotating basis.
Oversee the Member Services Unit, including areas such as Audio/Visual, Data Entry, Employment, Education, and Newsletter. Collaborate with members in meaningful, purpose-driven work that supports their skills, interests, and recovery goals.
Oversee Culinary unit, including lunches, snack bar, meal prep training and sanitation of kitchen and pantry. Work with members in facility maintenance, food purchasing, collection of donations and maintaining budgets associated with these Clubhouse efforts.
Ability to effectively present on the Clubhouse model as part of Community Outreach and Advocacy efforts. Engage in outreach and advocacy to increase awareness and support for the model.
Work one-on-one with specifically assigned members in goal setting and follow up, assisting with health and wellness activities of daily living.
Develop and manage employment, job development, and vocational recovery programs. Act as a Transitional Employment Placement (TEP) Manager for assigned employment partnerships. This may include training of members, working with employers to ensure that the position is going well, and, on occasion, stepping in to perform a member's job when the member is unable to complete it.
Build relationships with employers to create more transitional employment opportunities per Clubhouse standards.
Secure and provide transportation to and from the Clubhouse, Clubhouse activities, such as field trips, shopping, etc.
Participate in accredited Clubhouse and trauma-informed care training and special projects as assigned related to PLAN Clubhouse operations.
Welcome and orient new members and families to ensure they feel connected and supported.
Ensure a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for all.
Promote outreach to recruit new members and maintain active participation of existing members.
Ensure members have a voice in decision-making, and are offered opportunities for skill building, employment, education and social inclusion.

Program Management

• Understand, implement, and ensure compliance to International Clubhouse Accreditation standards and resolve any findings.

• Maintain clubhouse program as outlined in the PLAN clubhouse program manual.

• Develop and ensure compliance with JFS/PLAN policies and procedures. Ensure confidentiality of members and ethical standards are maintained.

• Submit PLAN Clubhouse grant reports in a timely manner.

• Ensure grant and CQI targets are met and work to advance effectiveness of program.

• Participate in grant development, and fundraising efforts to sustain PLAN clubhouse expenses.

• Participate in federal, state, and local advocacy efforts for clubhouse programs.

• Participate in federal, state, and local mental health associations, seminars, and conferences.

• Ensure the Clubhouse complies with legal, regulatory, licensing, and accreditation requirements.

• Promote the JFS Clubhouse throughout to increase funding, partnerships and member enrollment.

• Manage PLAN budget in collaboration with accounting

• Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and provide ongoing supervision for staff, interns, and volunteers.

• Participate in strategic planning for growth, improvement, and sustainability of program.

• Collaborate and coordinate to ensure effective PAC meetings per clubhouse standards

• Collaborate with Peer Connections Manager to coordinate services and better support members.

• Participate in KLT and other committees as assigned.

• Coordinate and support collaboration with other JFS departments.

Qualifications

• Proficient in MS Office and is comfortable with administrative tasks and documentation..

• Ability to convey empathy and concern for those with severe and persistent mental illness and their families and able to monitor and coach Activities of Daily Living

• Good organizational skills, highly reliable with a strong work ethic and ability to take initiative

• Able to work independently and, as part of a team, to engage others in activities, rather than do them yourself, to be flexible and to handle the versatility of the position and its periodic crises

• Must be able to lift 25 pounds

• Must hold a valid driver's license, clean driving record, have a safe vehicle for transport

• Pass a Background Check

• Must be able to operate as part of a diverse, culturally sensitive and respectful environment

Bachelor's or graduate degree or commensurate experience in mental health field or other related field preferred. Familiarity with the Clubhouse Model of psychosocial rehabilitation a plus
