Story Producer, Happy Prince - 9 month Freelance Contract (PAYE)

Workplace: London - 1 New Oxford Street, WC1A 1NU - expectation is 4/5 days in the office.

The team

We are seeking a highly experienced Story Producer to join our production team to oversee a high-profile literary adaptation for a major streaming platform. This role spans the entire creative lifecycle of the project, from intensive creative development through to the completion of production. They will need a proven track record in managing large-scale productions, providing high-level editorial oversight, and leading a dedicated script team. 

The role

Lead the editorial development and story lining for an 8–12 episode season, collaborating closely with the Showrunner and a team of six writers through the script commissioning and redrafting process. Provide supervision and mentorship to two script editors while acting as the primary creative liaison between the writing team, producers, and directors to ensure all editorial decisions align with practical production requirements.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

• 4+ years extensive experience in creative development within the television industry. 
• A proven track record of seeing projects through from concept to production.
• Previous script editing/story lining production credits.
• Must care deeply about making impactful and entertaining television and be an avid viewer/consumer of Drama.
• Experience in script development including giving script feedback and development notes to writers, and contributing to the generation of ideas and the resolution of script problems.
• Comfortable working with legal personnel and have a solid understanding of intellectual property rights, copyright and clearance matters.
• Must possess a passion for creative excellence as well as an efficient and organised personality with the ability to turn ideas into action.
• Highly developed editorial skills with sound judgement.
