Description
The Extern Coordinator (EC) is responsible for acquiring externship sites for students to perform their clinical hours. The EC is also responsible for maintaining and monitoring externship attendance and maintaining relationships within the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure there is an adequate amount of externship sites for students in all program areas. Collect and verify all immunizations in preparation for externship. Maintain and manage students site evaluations upon completion of externship and track feedback. Work with Program Director/Leads to coordinate and assign students to externship sites. Collaborate with Program Directors/Managers to manage student retention efforts, trends, and recommendations to drive improvements. Provide students time sheets to properly track and record externship hours -Send externship time sheets to Registrar.
- Manage affiliation agreements between the College and sites. Visit externship sites on a regular basis to discuss students and externship concerns/issues. Build and strengthen relationships in the community and surrounding areas. Attend all occupational and institutional advisory board meetings.
- Assist in recruitment of occupational and institutional advisory board members. Serve as a liaison among students, externship site, and program director. Analyze progress and attendance reports to ensure students maintain passing grades and proper attendance to improve overall student graduation rates. Identify students that need to be placed at externship sites. Track student externship placement using CampusVue.
- Produce and distribute clinical site evaluation surveys to measure satisfaction, to drive improvements in student satisfaction and retention. Fostering relationships with employers in the community to provide students with opportunities to develop professional skills, integrate academic learning from work, and find employment. Maintain up-to-date information on externship sites. Perform other duties as assigned. List the essential duties required to carry out this job.

Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
- 3 years of Medical Assistant or Lab Assistant Experience in the field.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Advanced computer skills, particularly using specific software programs needed in compiling records; excellent oral and written communication skills; superb interpersonal skills; effective customer service abilities; and a strong knowledge of the functions and policies of the institution.
