About this role

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital, as an Operating Room Tech at the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Tinley Park. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

 

Under the supervision of a Nurse Manager and direction of a staff nurse, Operating Room Technicians:

  • Participate in the intra-operative care of a patient in surgery
  • Comply with Same Day Surgery operating room philosophy, policies, and procedures; support the Vision and Mission of the organization
  • Scrubs or performs various surgical procedures under the direction of a registered nurse
  • Provides equipment and supplies based on the surgeon's needs in performing procedures
  • Assists the circulating registered nurse on assigned cases
  • Communicate effectively
  • Participates in educational activities
  • Demonstrates personal and professional responsibility
  • Participates in creating an atmosphere of mutual trust, acceptance, recognition, and respect
  • Rotates to Sterile Processing Department when assigned   

 

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of recognized surgical technologist course or hospital-trained 
  • Must hold an active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association 
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an operating room setting
  • Positive attitude, excellent customer service, and teamwork

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with eye, orthopedic arthroscopy, and GI procedures preferred
