About this role

Infilla is looking for a Founding Deployment Strategist to get our biggest customer live and adopted, and make the process repeatable..

Infilla’s mission is to make more housing happen faster. The U.S. is short 4-7 million homes, and local permitting is one of the top bottlenecks with approvals taking months to years. Infilla is building the modern permitting platform that helps local governments review projects faster, more consistently, and more transparently. Customers include San Francisco, New York City, and the State of Delaware, among others. We’re backed by Basis Set Ventures, Base10 Partners, Urban Innovation Fund, SHAKTI VC, 20Growth, Bloomberg Beta, and 20+ founders/operators who’ve built products at scale.

WHAT YOU’LL DELIVER

  • 3 agencies are live, with staff using Infilla software

  • 2+ business case studies are published

  • 2+ agency customers are willing to be reference calls

  • The next customer implementation is materially faster than the first

WHAT YOU’VE DONE BEFORE

  • Led delivery of complex enterprise or government software implementations

  • Created software training, onboarding, runbooks, checklists, and go-live materials from scratch

  • Operated in an implementation role at a seed stage software startup

  • Mastered complex regulatory domains quickly (e.g., planning, insurance, healthcare billing, tax, construction)

WHAT YOU’RE GREAT AT

  1. Stakeholder management in government: builds champions, reads motivations, and holds trust across actors with different definitions of success.

  2. Operational discovery: gets to the bottom of ordinances, workflows, data, and people to model the operation accurately and fast.

  3. Scoping and configuration judgment: separates critical needs from nice-to-haves, configures to the department's reality, and holds the line on custom work without losing the customer.

  4. Systematizing: creates training and documentation that enable staff to run the system, and so that a colleague can take the next implementation.

  5. Ownership under ambiguity: takes an undefined engagement to a scoped plan and drives it to a specific date, without close oversight.

Research shows women & minorities are more likely to consider themselves unqualified if they don’t meet every single requirement in a job description. This represents what we’re ideally looking for, but everyone is unique. We hire for strengths & potential, not lack of weakness or a perfect resume fit.

HOW WE WORK

  • Ideas > Hierarchy - Best idea wins regardless of source. Be intellectually honest.

  • Kind > Nice - Share clear, helpful feedback often. Voice your concerns and listen.

  • Courage > Comfort - We do the right thing, even when hard or uncomfortable.

  • Hours > Weeks - Solve it in hours, not "eventually." Speed is our biggest edge as a startup.

  • Fix > Flag - See a problem, own it, and fix it — don't wait for someone else to.

YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS AND BEYOND

Month 1: learn

  • Shadow planners, examiners, and staff at several Infilla customers

  • Go deep on the product: configuration surface, data model, and integration points

  • Support an active implementation alongside product and engineering

Month 2: own

  • Own a live implementation fully

  • Lead training sessions (both onsite and remote)

  • Start to build out implementation runbooks and templates

Month 3: lead

  • Fully own multiple concurrent implementations

  • Be a trusted advisor to government stakeholders

  • Get a customer through go-live with a clean handoff to long term support

What success looks like in year one

  • Multiple implementations delivered on schedule, with staff actively using the system

  • Measurable permitting outcomes that we can point to publicly

  • A repeatable implementation program that a second and third hire can run with faster

WHAT’S HARD ABOUT THIS ROLE

  • Every municipality is different: workflows, ordinances, legacy systems, and politics. You’ll create repeatable playbooks for implementation that accommodate this variation.

  • The problems are ambiguous. Defining and solving the real problem means deeply understanding people, workflows, organizational politics, and technology.

  • Slow-moving domain, urgent company, across a big product surface: intake, review, approvals, inspections, reporting, compliance.
