Background and Role
An
exciting career opportunity has opened within our Pharmaceutical Synthesis
division. Our mission is to be the premier global distributor of specialty raw
materials, including solvents, intermediates, and process chemicals. We strive
to be the "first port of call" for innovators and CDMOs across all
stages of R&D and manufacturing.
There
are two aspects to this dynamic role. As International Product Manager (IPM),
you will lead an international business and oversee our 40-year relationship
with a key Principal (supplier) and top global specialty solvent manufacturer. You
will act as a key liaison across commercial and operational stakeholders within
the BG Pharmaceutical Network, responsible for driving growth. As Sales Manager,
you will be customer facing, driving commercial efforts for our specialty
solvents, process chemicals, and intermediates portfolio across the Irish
Pharmaceutical and CDMO markets. You will be responsible for developing
strategic initiatives, managing client accounts, and partnering with
cross-functional commercial and operational teams to deliver business success.
Blending
international product management and regional sales, this hybrid role reports
jointly to the Director of Synthesis (Group) and the Pharmaceuticals Business
Unit Manager (UK & Ireland). It is an ideal fit for a dynamic,
self-starting "hunter" with strong commercial and technical acumen,
who thrives on driving growth with global stakeholders. This role offers a flexible
blend of remote and Dublin-office working, alongside travel to meet customers,
suppliers, and attend industry events.
Your responsibilities at IMCD:
Commercial Strategy & Growth
- Drive commercial
strategies to accelerate revenue growth, hit financial targets, and expand
IMCD’s market footprint.
- Identify and
capture new business opportunities, proactively building a robust project
pipeline and securing new customers. Identify expansion opportunities by
geography, by market, and by product line.
- Represent the
company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to
elevate market presence.
Financial Performance & Analytics
- Perform deep-dive
variance analyses comparing performance to budget, evaluating key metrics
including revenue, margin and volume.
- Forecast sales and
manage budgets, delivering data-driven reports and presentations to
internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor market
trends and competitor activity, leveraging sales data and export
statistics to optimise business strategies.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor, and
motivate internal stakeholders, fostering a high-performance culture to
boost overall productivity.
- Conduct strategic
pipeline reviews, ensuring team members receive the support needed to
convert leads into closed sales.
- Cultivate and
strengthen strategic partnerships with key customers, suppliers, and
industry stakeholders.
- Serve as the
primary Principal contact for all commercial,
technical, operational and developmental requirements.
- Build
and maintain strong multi-level relationships,
positioning IMCD as a valued partner.
- Develop and
agree strategic growth plans to deliver sustainable and
profitable expansion.
- Ensure strong,
consistent communication and alignment with key internal
stakeholders to deliver budget expectations, business plans and
other Business Group targets.
- Identify expansion
opportunities by geography, by market, and by product line.
- Ensure effective
pricing management, including pricing negotiation and payment terms.
- Accountable for
all operational aspects of the role, including stock management /
forecasting, supply chain coordination, and sampling activities,
with support from the Principal Coordinator.
Ideal
Candidate:
- Education: Degree in Life Sciences (Chemistry preferred) or Business, combined with a proven commercial track record in the chemical or allied industries.
- Industry Expertise: Market expertise in the pharmaceutical and agrochemical synthesis sectors with a knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the distribution business model, industry trends, competitive dynamics, and value drivers ideal.
- Commercial Leadership: Prior experience of sales and Principal management with a proven ability to develop and drive strategies that drive significant growth, and to engage, influence, motivate, and create alignment of stakeholders across multiple countries and functions within a matrixed organisation.
- Analytical Acumen: Strong numeracy and data-analysis skills, capable of translating complex metrics to build strategic commercial and operational solutions and provide actionable recommendations.
- Agility: Highly adaptable and flexible; able to pivot sales approaches rapidly in response to evolving market dynamics and technologies. Resilient, adaptable, and effective in dynamic, fast-paced environments, able to navigate challenges and maintain effectiveness during periods of change or growth.
- Results-Driven: A persistent, solutions-focused problem solver with an innovative approach to overcoming commercial challenges.
- Communication & Presentation: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build cohesive relationships and present confidently to technical and commercial stakeholders at all levels.
- Tech-Savviness: Proficiency in MS Office and modern CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce).
- Operationally Astute: Experience with forecasting, supply chain processes or customer service workflows.
