Sequoia Services Inc., based in San Jose, CA, is a commercial demolition contractor specializing in interior and selective demolition.

Typical demolition projects have ranged from small, surgical server-room demos to gutting commercial buildings, warehouses, and office complexes.

We take pride in our work and our effect on the environment. We take extra time to sort materials on site to maximize recycling output and to minimize materials ending up in landfills.

The Field Superintendent is an essential position for Sequoia Services. The individual in this position isresponsible for providing on-site coordination & supervision for all phases of our demolition projects,including coordinating with project managers, ordering necessary equipment, ensuring that scopes of work, safety, and inspection protocols are being strictly followed, and maintaining that work is on schedule, within budget, and of quality. The goal in this position is to manage Sequoia Services field services team quality, efficiency, and cost in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organize, coordinate, and supervise the work of the Foreman, Sub Foreman, and Field Laborers on demolition projects
  • Coordinate with Dispatch Manager to schedule field staff for appropriate projects
  • Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Estimators regarding project scope, schedule, change orders, and requirements
  • Communicate with customer's on-site Superintendent
  • Assist with time tracking and gathering of weekly timesheets
  • Preside at safety and informational meetings with field staff
  • Assist in hiring new field personnel

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and/or 4 years of work experience in construction, demolition, remodeling, and/or project coordination experience
  • Driver’s license with an insurable record
  • Working knowledge of all phases of demolition, including project setup, mobilization, access, and clean-up
  • Ability to read blueprints and specifications
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of management & personnel
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Positive, proactive, and professional attitude
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English)

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work full-time, up to an average of 45-50 hours per week
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday from 6 AM – 3 PM
  • Flexibility to work weekends on occasion and work more or fewer hours on any day depending on work demand.
  • Must be a team player and perform well under pressure
  • Able to perform physically demanding work in weather conditions from extreme heat to freezing temperatures
  • Able to navigate a jobsite and able to follow instructions and safety rules

Physical Requirements

  • Employee must be in good physical health
  • Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods of time
  • Must have physical strength, endurance, and work well with hands
  • Requires lifting heavy objects, including buckets and rolls of materials, up to 100 lbs
