This role will be part of the Corporate Functions Tower for Group Technology ( IT 1.12), which oversees IT service delivery and manages key relationships across all corporate and central units, including Finance, HR, Legal & Compliance, Services/Facilities, and Procurement. The Tower also manages cross-functional domains such as document management, collaboration platforms, corporate websites, and Group-wide Identity Access Management (IAM), as well as selected central platforms and Regulatory/Integrated Risk Management (IRM) product delivery. 

As a Technical Architect you will create, iterate, and maintain technical and data architectures. In this role, you will ensure a high quality technical system design which supports system performance, at optimal operational cost under the circumstances of flexibility and future change.

 

Your job

  • Assume IT Product Management responsibilities for assigned business applications and digital products, primarily based on the ServiceNow platform, supporting product strategy, roadmap definition, lifecycle planning, demand prioritization and value realization in close collaboration with business stakeholders and delivery teams.
  • Take overall responsibility for the technical architecture and IT product management of a portfolio of business applications, with a primary focus on ServiceNow-based solutions and selected third-party SaaS products supporting Central Procurement (CP), Real Estate Services (RES) and Human Resources (HR).
  • Facilitate the translation of business objectives, strategic initiatives and operational requirements into sustainable technical solutions and product capabilities, ensuring alignment between business value, enterprise architecture and implementation feasibility.
  • Drive product lifecycle management by balancing stakeholder expectations, business priorities, technical debt, platform sustainability and regulatory requirements while maximizing business value delivery.
  • Partner with business owners, product owners and senior stakeholders to identify, evaluate and prioritize demand, ensuring a transparent decision-making process and alignment with organizational goals and budget constraints.
  • Provide strategic guidance on the evolution of ServiceNow-based services and products, identifying opportunities for innovation, automation and operational excellence across the supported business functions.
  • Represent the product and architecture perspective in management discussions, governance bodies and decision forums, ensuring that technology investments and solution directions support long-term business objectives and enterprise standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across business and IT, fostering collaboration, managing expectations and acting as the primary interface between business demand and technology delivery.

 

Your Profile

  • University degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Systems or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a fast-paced, global and regulated business environment, with several years of hands-on experience in software development, solution architecture and technology consulting, providing a thorough understanding of the complete software development and product lifecycle.
  • 5+ years of experience with proven ServiceNow architecture, administration and development skills, ideally including Workspace Service Delivery (WSD), Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD) and App Engine technologies.
  • In addition to ServiceNow expertise, solid knowledge of cloud-based and service-oriented architectures leveraging Microsoft Azure technologies such as ADLS, ADF, Databricks and related platform services like APIs.
  • Experience with DevOps principles and best practices, preferably including Azure DevOps, Git, source control management, branching strategies, code reviews and CI/CD processes.
  • ITIL certification is preferred, or willingness to pursue certification with company support.
  • Demonstrated experience in IT Product Management, Demand Management or Business Relationship Management, including product roadmap planning, prioritization, lifecycle management and balancing business value with technical sustainability.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across business and IT organizations, including senior management stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand business objectives, analyze and challenge requirements constructively, and translate complex business needs into sustainable technology solutions and product capabilities.
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency in architectural standards, methodologies and solution design, with the ability to conduct architecture reviews, lead process analysis and drive process redesign initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • German language skills are highly desirable to effectively collaborate with and advise local business stakeholders within Munich Re's German business functions.
  • Willingness to travel as required in the execution of responsibilities.
