JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the Chefs with the cleanliness of the kitchen. Unload delivery trucks from vendors. Wash all floors; power wash when needed. Scrub the walls; clean the hot boxes regularly. Make sure all dishes and equipment are clean and put back in their proper place. Take out trash and break down boxes. Help with kitchen preparation as needed with a basic skill set

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

Operational Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting the Chefs with the cleanliness of the kitchen.
Unloading delivery trucks from vendors and using FIFO method.
Wash all floors, power wash when need be.
Clean the hot boxes regularly
Make sure all dishes and equipment are clean and put back in their proper place.
Take out trash and break down boxes.
Sweep and mop all walk-in coolers, all kitchen areas and back banquet are.
Assist Chefs with banquet plate up and ensure that they have clean plates and clean covers for event.
Maintain cleanliness of the employee breakroom area with occasional deep cleaning.

Guest Services

Have a positive attuite with internal and external guests.
Always applies the principles of trust, honesty, respect, integrity and commitment.
Helps to establish confidence in the culinary team among peers throughout the hotel and throughout Valencia Group.

Team Support and Training

Participate in mandatory training and meetings.
Must be comfortable using Paycom app or computers to complete training
May use device (Alice App) to communicate with team members internally during shift to assign/ complete tasks.
Establish effective, two-way communication with team members/management

Safety & Compliance

Maintain a safe, clean operating environment, ensuring compliance to all local health codes and regulations.
Understanding SDS binder
Be trained in the proper use of chemicals
Report to supervisor any equipment that is broken and not in working order
Report accidents or safety concerns immediately
Ensure to maintain a safe environment (for example, be proactive with safety initiatives such as using non-slip shoes, keeping clean and organized work areas, using wet floor signs, etc.)

BASICS:

Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas
Display courteous behavior with guests and team members
Report any unsafe conditions immediately
Ensure hotel equipment is in proper working condition
Attend required meetings
Follow company policies and procedures
Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

Physical Requirements

Standing/Walking: Frequently with 7 to 8 hours a day
Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally 5lbs-50lbs
Other Physical Requirements: physical abilities including:

Crouching, frequently- bending at knees retrieving/ storing supplies
Climbing stairs, occasionally during shift (employee entrance)
Reaching (overhead/ extension), occasionally retrieving/storing supplies
Handling and grasping frequently
Pushing/ Pulling- occasionally 20-50 lbs.
Ability to operate food and beverage equipment safely.
Must also possess good vision and dexterity.

Working Environment

Interior of the hotel in all areas of the hotel.
Primarily working in a kitchen environment: hot dishes, sharp objects, knives, boiling water, hot stoves/surfaces, potential wet floors; slip-resistant footwear required.
Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, non-climate-controlled office.
Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions during certain promotional events.

QualificationsEducation and Experience

Full-service hotel experience preferred
High School diploma or equivalent
Entry-level steward roles may not require prior experience.
1–2 years of experience in a similar role in a larger hotel preferred.
