Position Summary

The Food and Beverage Supervisor supports the daily operation of the hotel's food and beverage outlets, including restaurants, bars, in-room dining, and other assigned service areas. This position provides hands-on leadership to ensure exceptional guest service, efficient operations, proper cash and inventory controls, and compliance with hotel standards.

The ideal candidate is a visible, service-focused leader who can motivate the team, resolve guest concerns, and maintain a professional and welcoming environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise daily food and beverage operations during assigned shifts.

Ensure outlets are properly staffed, organized, and prepared for service.

Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily specials, hotel events, VIP guests, service expectations, and operational updates.

Monitor the guest experience and ensure associates consistently provide attentive, professional, and timely service.

Assist with the opening and closing of assigned outlets.

Assign duties and service areas based on business volume and operational needs.

Support restaurant, bar, in-room dining, and other food and beverage operations as needed.

Monitor order accuracy, presentation, delivery times, table maintenance, and sequence of service.

Address guest concerns promptly and professionally, involving management when necessary.

Ensure associates follow all recipes, portion standards, presentation guidelines, and service procedures.

Assist with training, coaching, and developing food and beverage associates.

Provide timely feedback and document performance or attendance concerns in partnership with management and Human Resources.

Monitor associate attendance, punctuality, uniform standards, grooming, and professional conduct.

Verify that associates properly record working time and take required meal periods.

Review guest checks, discounts, voids, complimentary items, open-food transactions, and other point-of-sale activity for accuracy.

Complete cash-handling responsibilities and shift paperwork in accordance with hotel procedures.

Assist with inventory counts, product controls, requisitions, and the prevention of waste or loss.

Ensure proper communication between front-of-house, culinary, stewarding, and in-room dining teams.

Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and safety throughout all assigned service areas.

Ensure compliance with food-safety, alcohol-service, health department, and workplace-safety requirements.

Confirm that all required opening, closing, cleaning, and side-work duties are completed.

Communicate equipment concerns, maintenance needs, and safety hazards to the appropriate department.

Support special events, banquet functions, hotel activations, and high-volume business periods as needed.

Complete shift reports and communicate important operational information to the next shift and department leadership.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Associate degree in hospitality, food service, or a related field preferred.

At least two years of food and beverage or hospitality experience required.

Previous supervisory, lead, or shift-management experience preferred.

Experience in a full-service hotel, restaurant, bar, or upscale dining environment preferred.

Working knowledge of restaurant operations, food safety, sanitation, cash handling, and alcohol-service regulations.

ServSafe Food Handler or Manager certification preferred.

ServSafe Alcohol or other approved responsible alcohol-service certification required or must be obtained within the timeframe established by the hotel.

Ability to use point-of-sale systems, scheduling programs, email, and basic Microsoft Office applications.

Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and guest-service skills.

Scheduling Requirements

This position requires a flexible schedule based on business needs. The Food and Beverage Supervisor must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Extended hours may be required during high-volume periods.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements listed below represent those necessary to perform the essential functions of the position:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and carry service-related items.

Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds independently.

Ability to work in restaurant, bar, kitchen, outdoor, and hotel service environments.

Ability to work around food, beverages, cleaning products, varying temperatures, and moderate noise levels.
