Qualification Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Currently licensed as an RN through the Ohio Board of Nursing; must be able to obtain a license in the state of Michigan.
  • Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience; previous experience in the nursing home environment and/or hospice is preferred.
  • Has working experience charting in an EMR system, Netsmart system preferred.
  • Possesses a strong clinical background with knowledge of disease processes and pathways.
  • Possesses clinical expertise related to critical thinking, assessment, problem-solving and technical skills and be able to multitask.
  • Knowledge of Medicare hospice regulations and Joint Commission regulations preferred.
  • Demonstrates the ability to seek, form and foster an effective, collaborative caregiving partnership with the nursing facility staff.
  • Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to the unique mission and cultural climate of each facility environment.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills; demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members regarding care issues.
  • Has the ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team. Must be flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile in good working condition and is insured in accordance with state and agency requirements.
  • Understands the hospice philosophy, principles of death/dying, concepts of pain/symptom management, and adult teaching/learning principles.
  • Meets state requirements for maintaining professional license.
  • Must be CPR certified according to the American Heart Association CPR standards.
