Horizon Farm Credit is seeking a part-time Tax Intern for the winter of 2026, extending to the Spring of 2027. The selected candidate will participate in a paid 10-12-week internship based out of an office within the Horizon Territory. Preferred locations include York, PA, Lewisburg, PA, Mount Joy, PA, or Reedsville, PA. Intern hours and schedule will depend on the intern's school schedule. Interns will work during branch hours of operation which are typically Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The internship program is scheduled to run tentatively from early January through April 2027. Position Summary:
The Tax intern will assist in providing services to accounting, record, and income tax return customers with a high level of quality, accuracy, and efficiency. These services include support with tax preparation, consultative accounting services, payroll processing services, and record keeping. Promote related services, actively participate in product referrals, business development and public relations activities, and maintain a favorable Farm Credit image.
Areas of responsibility include:
- Reviewing and helping with data input.
- Learning about our tax preparation process with our experienced staff.
- Identifying and researching tax issues while providing information to senior staff members.
- Processing record information to assist in financial reporting for our customers.
- Identifying and carrying out other projects as assigned.
- Meeting with your mentor for regular feedback and professional development discussions.
Requirements:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Ag Business, or related field.
- Preferred expected graduation dates between May 2027 – December 2029.
- Preferred experience with coursework in Business, Accounting, Finance, etc.
- Knowledge of agriculture and agricultural operations is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently with general supervision.
- Detail-oriented
- Strong organizational skills.
- Flexible to a changing work environment
