Horizon Farm Credit is seeking a full-time intern for the summer of 2027 to work in either our Mount Joy, PA, Mechanicsburg, PA, Shoemakersville, PA, York, PA, Lewisburg, PA, or Reedsville, PA branch location. Summer intern hours are typically Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The internship program is scheduled to run from mid-May through early August 2027.
Position Overview
Assist Horizon Farm Credit’s Customer Experience, Marketing, and Government, Industry, & Member Relations teams with developing and executing key projects and initiatives related to customer engagement, branding, educational programming, industry relations, government affairs, events and sponsorships, content creation, and young, beginning, and small farmer outreach. This role will also be involved in collaborative cross-functional initiatives and a group intern project for the association.
Areas of Responsibilities
- Support department initiatives including customer engagement, marketing campaigns, customer education projects, government affairs activities, industry relations efforts, events, and sponsorships.
- Help plan, coordinate, execute, and participate in Farm Credit customer meetings, educational programs, and industry events.
- Represent Horizon Farm Credit at customer-facing events, meetings, and industry activities.
- Create and support content development efforts for digital marketing initiatives, customer communications, webinars, online learning modules, and other educational resources.
- Assist with the development and implementation of association-wide campaigns, events, and customer experience initiatives.
- Support development of educational content and resources for young, beginning, and small farmers.
- Provide support to the Farm Credit Foundation for Agricultural Advancement’s scholarship program, including event planning and data analysis.
- Assist with inputting participation activity, customer engagement information, and records into CRM systems.
- Learn about the Farm Credit System, Horizon Farm Credit’s mission, and the collaborative relationship between teams throughout the association.
- Collaborate with internal workgroups, committees, and cross-functional teams on identified projects and special assignments.
Required Qualifications & Preferred Skills
- Ambitious student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree program in Ag Business, Marketing, Communications, Industry Relations, Journalism, Business, or a related field.
- Preferred expected graduation dates between May 2028 – December 2029.
- Strong academic background and a GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Experience in agriculture is considered a plus but not required.
- Preferred coursework or experience in marketing, communications, business, journalism, media, agriculture, or related disciplines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrates creativity, strategic thinking, and customer-focused problem-solving.
- Experience in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to and from various offices and events within Horizon Farm Credit’s territory.
- Ability to work independently with general supervision and proven self-starter.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Flexible to a changing work environment.
