The Packer Avenue Marine Terminal is operated by Greenwich Terminals LLC and is one of the most productive terminals in the United States.

The facility employs 12 highly productive and safe in-house labor crews and offers 19 start times which creates greater flexibility for vessel departure and arrival times.  This adds up to cargo being moved faster, discharged faster, and saves distributors time and money.

Primary Responsibilities

· Troubleshoot defects and malfunctions in electrical and mechanical systems to determine type and extent of repair

· Analyze and troubleshoot relay logic, PLCs, electrical controls, networks, fiber optics, medium/low-voltage power systems, hydraulic systems, and crane motor drives

· Read and troubleshoot from electrical and hydraulic schematics

· Repair crane hardware, including brake assemblies, integrated control modules, relay control circuits, generator controls, operator chairs, and container spreader bars

· Perform equipment modifications, including DC drives, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor and gear replacements, and festoon replacements

· Assist in the replacement of wire ropes, sheaves, crane wheels, and bearings

· Perform and follow PM and lubrication schedules

· Perform daily and monthly crane inspections

· Perform other mechanical duties as assigned

Secondary Responsibilities

· Operate cranes for testing and inspection purposes

· Use crane diagnostic software to perform job functions

· Communicate with operations, maintenance management, and other technicians regarding schedules, evaluations, and repairs

· Ensure the shop maintains and accurately tracks inventory needed for repairs and maintenance

· Be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of repairs and housekeeping

Qualifications

· Significant experience with electrical control circuits for three-phase and single-phase power

· Strong working knowledge of electrical troubleshooting techniques, computer and network skills, electrical test equipment, electrical components, basic electronics, circuit schematic analysis, and machine control concepts

· Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic schematics/equipment

Working Conditions

· Work is performed in all types of weather, at extreme heights, and in cramped spaces

· Continual exposure to high noise levels from cranes, ships, and truck engines

· Requires strenuous physical activity, including climbing, bending, and lifting tools/equipment weighing over 50 lbs

· Must follow all safety rules and practices to ensure consistently safe performance of duties
