About this role

The Support Services Mobility Tech ensures timely and efficient Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) to include moving and transporting patients internally throughout the hospitals and assigned locations.  Other supporting duties include as assigned and trained for environmental services, general transport of patients and materials, and centralized dispatch.  

The Mobility Tech preforms lifting, transferring, repositioning, and mobilizing of patients using powered or non-powered equipment (e.g., lifts, slide boards, transfer chairs, etc.) to minimize manual handling and reduce injury risk to both staff and patients.

This position is required to participate in SPHM-compliant training programs and collaborate with other team members to perform patient handling tasks safely and efficiently, especially in high-risk or complex patient care scenarios to include patient dignity, comfort, and safety during all handling activities, adjusting techniques and equipment based on patient condition and mobility level standardly and in urgent or emergent patient handling situations, following hospital protocols to prevent harm.

The Mobility Tech will perform equipment management by Inspecting, operating, and maintaining patient handling equipment properly and report malfunctions or safety concerns promptly. 

The Mobility Tech will provide training and mentorship to new team members and other patient care personnel in patient moving techniques, equipment use, and SPHM protocols.

Qualifications

Education and Experience 

  • Ability to read, speak, understand, and follow written and verbal directions in English with a basic range of comprehension sufficient for understanding job specific forms, documents, signs, symbols and written instructions. 
  • Recognizes and comprehends emergency and urgent situations and can react and communicate so others understand. 
  • Ability to train other staff members on work duties, follow instructions, and schedule flexibility due to needs of hospital. 
  • To perform duties of SS Tech must also demonstrate computer skills in utilizing the various software’s of the workstation. 
  • High School graduate or GED preferred.
  • Previous Call Center preferred.
  • Current Dispatch/Patient Transport experience. 
  • Basic Math Skills and knowledge of the 24 hour time system is also preferred. 
  • Willingness to work in sister departments such as (Storeroom, Mailroom, and Print Shop). Always willing to learn other job functions to be a universal tool for the Support Services Department. 

 

Licenses

Valid California driver’s license required for those who are authorized to operate Hoag vehicles.

Certifications Required:

BLS
