About this role

What's the role?

As a Gis Data Engineer II, you will:

  •
  • Own end‑to‑end delivery of increasingly complex GIS data engineering and ingestion projects, from design through execution.
  • Transform, integrate, and create geospatial data products using tools such as FME, ArcGIS, QGIS, Python, SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and related technologies.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with large‑scale and bulk data ingestion and conversion efforts.
  • Provide GIS and spatial data consultancy, particularly for bulk source integration initiatives.
  • Contribute to departmental and cross‑functional projects to improve efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Apply a strong engineering and consultancy mindset, focusing on delivering the right outcomes rather than only initial requests.
  • Design, improve, and re‑engineer processes, tools, and workflows using strategic and tactical technology recommendations.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues related to data conversion, bulk updates, and the HERE map database while collaborating with empathy and integrity.

Who are you?

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, or 3+ years of directly related experience.
  • Strong data analytics skills with advanced experience in ArcGIS, QGIS, and FME, plus working knowledge of Python, SQL, PostgreSQL, and Machine Learning concepts.
  • Experience working with modern GIS technologies, including cloud platforms, web services, and big data environments.
  • Hands‑on experience transforming and managing data in relational databases such as Oracle and Postgres.
  • Familiarity with AWS, APIs, GitLab, and Agile ways of working, including Kanban, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Ability to work independently within your discipline and support or mentor junior colleagues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical insights into clear, actionable messages for non‑technical audiences.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in an additional language is a plus.

What Do We Offer?

  • An inclusive, collaborative, and supportive work environment where diverse perspectives are valued.
  • Opportunities to work on meaningful, large‑scale geospatial products that have real‑world impact.
  • Continuous learning and professional development through challenging projects and exposure to modern GIS and data technologies.
  • A culture that encourages innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Flexible ways of working that support work–life balance.
  • The opportunity to collaborate with talented colleagues across teams and regions.
  • A competitive compensation and benefits package aligned with the local market.
  • A company culture built on integrity, empathy, and respect.
