Job Summary
The Extrusion Technician II is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an Extrusion Machine or Punch Press to produce high quality products. In the role of Technician II you will perform detailed inspections, process troubleshooting, equipment and tooling setup, set process parameters and make adjustments as needed. The Technician II ensures a consistent flow of materials through coordination with upstream and downstream production needs.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor process operations to ensure quality and efficiency
  • Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections to ensure part conformance
  • Report equipment issues to lead or supervisor as needed
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues on a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine and support resolution
  • Perform grinding tasks as required by production specifications
  • Coordinate work instructions including machine setup, materials, downstream needs, and packaging
  • Set machine and process parameters for optimal performance of a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine
  • Complete tooling setup, cleaning, and storage of a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance
  • Housekeeping as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of related experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret shop orders
  • Forklift experience and ability to obtain forklift certification
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Basic mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read and understand CAD drawings and blueprints
  • Able to use and read measuring tools such as tape measure and caliper
  • Possess a can do attitude

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hour shift
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE as required. Safety shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection

Key Competencies (completed independently)

  • Read and interpret shop orders
  • Follow detailed work instructions
  • Read and understand CAD drawings and blueprints
  • Set machine and process parameters for optimal performance of a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine and Auxiliary equipment
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues on a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine and support resolution
  • Able to read measurement tools such as a tape measure and caliper
  • Completely and accurately fills out production logs and QC check list
  • Complete tooling setup or teardown, cleaning, and storage of a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine
  • Coordinate work instructions including machine setup, materials, downstream needs, and packaging
