Job DetailsJob Location: PS 102 One World Aft Schl Prg, 211 72nd St, BKLYN, NY, 11209 - Brooklyn, NY 11209Position Type: Part-TimeEducation Level: High School Diploma or EquivalentSalary Range: $18.00 - $18.28 HourlyTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: DayWe are seeking an Activity Specialist to supervise and engage a group of school-age children in enriching activities during after-school hours. This includes assisting with homework, leading recreational and educational activities, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment. The Activity Specialist will have specialized skills and expertise in one or more or content area to lead and implement an activity such as arts, dance, STEM, literacy, nutrition or organized sports.
Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities of Position:
Assist in the development of age-appropriate activities in one or more discipline or content area
Provide direct supervision of youth activities
Submit weekly activity plans
Lead activities related to recreation and theme based such as (Arts, Dance, STEM, Literacy, Nutrition, or Organized sports.
Assist in maintaining daily attendance records for program participants
Assist in the provision of basic counseling services as needed (peer mediation, self-control, decision making)
Accompany youth on cultural and recreational field trips
Assist in ensuring a safe environment for program participants
Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere; Collaborate with other staff members to coordinate group activities
Actively participate in all professional development sessions, supervision, and team meetings
Maintain and organize activities and equipment
Performs other job-related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope, responsibilities, and level of the position, and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED Required
Associate's degree in child development, recreation, or a related field Preferred
Minimum of 1-2 years' experience working with youth in child development, recreation, or a related field Preferred
Must be able to work Mon-Fri; (2:00pm-6pm)
