About this role
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Receive ordered materials from vendors and from other branches by verifying quantities received against packing slip and reporting discrepancies to the Warehouse Supervisor/Manager.
• Enter information about received materials into the computer system, place materials into stock (unless orders against that material are pending) and send completed paperwork to the office for further processing.
• Prepare customer orders for shipment or service by evaluating schedule and priorities printed pick tickets and prioritizing them by the time the order needs to be completed to meet customer requirements. Pull materials from stock areas, package and ship orders or stage and hold will-call orders to meet customer requirements.
• Schedule and manage pickup and delivery of orders as needed with the appropriate shipping vendor or customer as applicable. Call approved shipping companies to arrange pickup and delivery of orders. Call customers, as directed, to advise them that their order is complete and ready for pickup. Report any impact on lack of stock and inventory levels problems to the Warehouse/Service Supervisor/Manager leader.
• Coordinate and complete orders from walk-in customers by entering the orders into the computer system, checking customer files for discount information, pulling ordered materials, packaging them as needed, completing required paperwork, and collecting payment for cash sales. Forward completed paperwork to the office for further processing.
• Process returned materials from customers and verify if the material is able to be placed back into inventoryby verifying quantities and inspecting materials for credit worthiness to be resold, reused, or scraped as determined by appropriate member of the sales or operations team. Send information to Inside Sales personnel for further processing. Hold materials in separate area pending approval of credit and instructions from inside sales team or personnel or the Branch Manager to re-stock.
• Report inventory discrepancies and provide completed documentation to the Warehouse/Service Manager or Branch Manager. Assist with inventory control by reporting stock discrepancies to the branch manager, maintaining “additional stock” notices on stock locations in the warehouse, performing cycle counts and sending completed forms to the office manager.
• Perform general housekeeping duties in the warehouse facility by keeping materials in their assigned areas stock area neatly arranged and in the assigned areas, cleaning as appropriate counters, such as sweeping floors, and removing trash and clutter, and wiping down surfaces.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Forklift driving experience is preferred.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
• Basic personal computer skills, email, and office software (MS Office).
