Job Summary

The Facility Custodian maintains clean, sanitary, and orderly offices, employee areas, common spaces, and assigned departments throughout the egg grading facility. This position supports a safe and food-safe work environment by following established cleaning, sanitation, GMP, biosecurity, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Clean offices, restrooms, breakrooms, locker rooms, hallways, entrances, and other assigned areas.
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, dust, and disinfect floors, surfaces, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and transport waste to designated areas.
  • Replenish soap, paper products, and other custodial supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness within assigned production and support departments without interfering with operations.
  • Respond promptly to spills and cleaning needs using approved chemicals, procedures, and personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain custodial equipment and keep cleaning supplies and storage areas organized and secure.
  • Report sanitation concerns, pest activity, maintenance issues, chemical spills, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Complete required cleaning schedules and documentation.
  • Follow all GMP, biosecurity, food safety, chemical safety, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Ability to follow cleaning schedules, safety instructions, chemical labels, and facility procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work independently.
  • Previous custodial, sanitation, manufacturing, or industrial cleaning experience is preferred.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working/Physical Requirements

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive handling activities.
  • Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance or with approved material handling equipment at the frequency established for the position.
  • Ability to safely operate standard custodial tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work scheduled overtime, weekends, or holidays as operational needs require.
  • Ability to work near moving production equipment and in areas that may be noisy, wet, or temperature-variable.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and follow all safety and food-safety requirements
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED
